Brackman: "I Think it Was a Perfect Fit"

Cincinnati (OH) Moeller Power Forward Andrew Brackman returned home Sunday evening from his official visit to North Carolina State and informed StateFans that he did indeed verbal to the Wolfpack.

"Oh, it was great," Andrew Brackman told StateFans. "I committed to NC State before I left. They really seemed to want me, and I think it was a perfect fit for both basketball and baseball. The coaches are like best friends so they are going to help me out scheduling wise. And, it's the ACC... can't get much better then that."

"Drew" also witnessed the 2003-2004 Wolfpack in their annual Red-White Scrimmage. He was impressed with the team and the fans who turned out for the game.

"I liked it. There was a ton of people there for the red-white game. It was surprising and shows how big of a basketball school NC State really is."

Brackman's role on the hardwood in Raleigh will be to utilize his strength-- the versatility in his game. The 6'10 (and still growing) power forward will play up to three positions for Coach Herb Sendek in his interchangeable offensive system.

"In their system they really don't put a big man in, and I like that a lot. I'm more of a face-the-basket type so it fits my game the best."

The Wolfpack beat out another ACC program and one of the premier basketball schools in the country for Andrew, a prospect some consider the top two-sport athlete in the nation.

"Georgia Tech and Arizona were the other schools I was looking at. Arizona offered me a scholarship to play both basketball and baseball, and Georgia Tech offered me in baseball only."

Local Wolfpack fans will get the chance to watch Brackman and his Moeller High School basketball squad this December. They will be playing in the Glaxo Holiday Invitational Tournament held in Raleigh at Reynolds Coliseum December 27th-30th.

"Yes, we are playing in the Glaxo Tournament in Raleigh. Coach Sendek said there will be a lot of fans supporting me so I'm looking forward to that."

"We should be really good this year. We won the state championship this past year and return almost everyone. We have me going to NC State, Josh Duncan going to Xavier, Bubba Walther going to Akron, and we have two 6'8 juniors... one has an offer from Dayton and one has an offer from Akron. So we should be really good."

With the natural gifts he has on the diamond, should Wolfpack fans worry that Andrew may never set foot on the NC State campus?

"No, I don't think so... it would really have to be a lot to wager me out of NC State, but I don't think it will even get to that point."
