Wolfpack to Host Official Visitors This Weekend

The NC State Wolfpack will reportedly host fifteen official visitors this weekend, with the list subject to change by Friday.

Here's a list of the fifteen football standouts scheduled to take an official visit to NC State this weekend.

A few other prospects could end up making the trip to Raleigh, but StateFans has been unable to confirm them at this time.

Note: This listing is in no way connected with the NC State coaching staff. It's been compiled through information StateFans has been able to gather from each prospect and/or various media oulets.

DT Demario Pressley

Hometown: Greensboro, NC

Vitals: 6-4/290/4.96

Offers: FSU, NCSU, UNC, OK, MIA among others

Visits Scheduled: NC State (12/6), UNC (1/9)

Pressley Profile: NC State will get the first shot at the nation's top defensive tackle, hosting Pressley this weekend in Raleigh. Most observers feel UNC and Florida State currently hold the edge, but a good visit should improve the Wolfpack's chances. Pressley will likely schedule a visit to Florida State for late-January, and a decision could follow that trip, unless he pulls the trigger for the Tarheels first.

RB Bobby Washington

Hometown: Miami, FL

Vitals: 6-1/190/4.5

Offers: Miami verbal who's considering NCSU, Tenn., among others

Visits Scheduled: NC State (1/6)

Washington Profile: MIAMI COMMITMENT. The Killian High School standout told StateFans in August that he would visit NC State and reportedly he arrives in Raleigh on Saturday for a two-night stay. Bobby has stated that his verbal to Miami is solid, but considering that they already have two other verbal commitments and NC State's glaring need for RB depth, NC State has a lot to offer him. Killian has been kind to NC State over the Amato era, with alums Pat Thomas, Andre Maddox, Stephen Tulloch, and Miguel Scott all inking with the Wolfpack. The additions of Washington and another of his talented teammates who will accompany him would be tremendous for NC State.

DB J.R. Bryant

Hometown: Miami, FL

Vitals: 6-1/160/4.45

Offers: Miami verbal who's considering NCSU, UF, FSU, among others

Visits Scheduled: NC State (12/6)

Bryant Profile: MIAMI COMMITMENT. The true "shocker" of the weekend, Bryant's visit looks to come out of nowhere. An early Hurricane verbal, some say he's peeved a bit about the number of defensive backs Miami intends on signing. Could this open the door for NC State? It's too early to tell, but landing an official visit is a good starting point. Bryant, another Killian product, is considered by most to be the top cover corner in Florida and an athlete who could play on the offensive side as well.

LB Javier Estopinan

Hometown: Miami, FL

Vitals: 6-3/235/4.65

Offers: NCSU, FSU, UF, OSU, Rutgers among others

Visits Scheduled: NC State (12/6), Ohio State (12/12), Florida State (1/9,), Florida (1/16)

Estopinan Profile: Javier begins his tour of big-time programs with the Wolfpack. A natural middle linebacker who has the frame to grow into a defensive lineman on the next level, "Javy" will likely choose between Florida State, Florida, and NC State with the Buckeyes on the outside at the moment. NC State's done a great job recruiting him, and he really likes their coaching staff. Will it be enough to overcome the lure of the in-state programs? This weekend's trip should go a long way to determining that.

S Lovon Ponder

Hometown: Miami, FL

Vitals: 6-0/190/4.4

Offers: NCSU, MIA, FSU, Aub, UGA among others

Visits Scheduled: NC State (12/6)

Ponder Profile: An outstanding safety from Monsignor Pace High School in Miami, Ponder hits the road for the first time this Friday. Considered a Strong Miami lean, Lovon's also looking at Florida State and Georgia. He just might be the #1 Defensive Back on NC State's board, but it's going to take a lot to overcome the Hurricane lead.

WR Trimane Goddard

Hometown: Robersonville, NC

Vitals: 6-0/180/4.5

Offers: UNC, NCSU, UVA, FSU, UGA, Tenn among others

Visits Scheduled: UVA (11/27), NC State (12/6), UNC (1/9), Tenn (1/16), Florida State (1/23)

Goddard Profile: Trimane has recently added NC State to his list, and it looks like an official visit will be made to Raleigh after all. The Wolfpack is the only team recruiting Goddard as a wide receiver, with most projecting him to the defensive side of the ball. The Cavaliers and Tarheels currently lead, but we will see if NC State's late push can pick up steam after his visit.

DE/DT Gerard Miller

Hometown: Vanceboro, NC

Vitals: 6-4/260/4.7

Offers: NCSU, UNC, FSU, UT, ECU, UMD, among others

Visits Scheduled: NC State (12/6)

Miller Profile: NORTH CAROLINA STATE COMMITMENT. Miller, who committed to NC State three weeks ago, will likely be in Raleigh doing some "recruiting" this weekend. He's the cousin of Trimane Goddard and also knows Demario Pressley, who he met at NC State's camp this summer. With his visit a mere formality, look for Gerard to try his best to bring some of the top in-state talent to Raleigh with him next season.

DT Brandon Daniel

Hometown: Pompano Beach, FL

Vitals: 6-4/270/4.75

Offers:NCSU, VT, Pitt, KSU, UF among others

Visits Scheduled: Virginia Tech (9/26), Pittsburgh (11/27), NC State (12/5), Kansas State (12/19)

Daniel Profile: Brandon hails from another prep program that has been kind to NC State over the past few years, Pompano Beach (FL) Ely High School. With alums Sterling Hicks and James Martin already wearing Wolfpack red, look for them to host their high school teammate while he's in town. Daniel has already taken two official visits, and will only have one scheduled trip left after seeing NC State. He's a top-notch defensive line prospect who fits the mold of current NC State defensive tackles John McCargo and Dwayne Herndon, players that "grew" into the position.

WR Albert Dukes

Hometown: Belle Glades, FL

Vitals: 6-2/190/4.45

Offers: NCSU, MIA, OSU among others

Visits Scheduled: NC State (12/6)

Dukes Profile: Albert just might be the state of Florida's top wide receiver prospect this season. A standout for Belle Glades Central, Dukes is mainly looking at NC State, Miami, and Ohio State, with most feeling the Hurricanes are out front. Want to know how good Dukes is? Alums of Central High School include Santonio Holmes, Reidel Anthony, and Reggie Vickers, yet his coach believes Dukes will end up being the best of the quartet.

LB Jerod Mayo

Hometown: Hampton, Virginia

Vitals: 6-3/215/4.6

Offers: NCSU, VT, UVA, Purdue, Tenn among others

Visits Scheduled: NC State (12/5), Virginia (12/12), Purdue (12/19), Tennessee (1/16), Virginia Tech (1/23)

Mayo Profile: Jerod's another stud linebacker from the Tidewater region. NC State Linebackers Coach Manny Diaz has done a great job recruiting Mayo, positioning the Wolfpack near the top of his list. To land his signature, the ‘Pack must beat out Virginia and Virginia Tech, two programs who rarely let top players leave the state. Jerod has been impressed by Coach Diaz and the facilities in Raleigh, and look for him to have a great trip this weekend.

QB Joe Joe Brown

Hometown: Cordele, GA

Vitals: 6-3/190/4.6

Offers: NCSU, UMD, Clem, WF, South Carolina among others

Visits Scheduled: NC State (12/5), Maryland (12/12), South Carolina (1/10), Wake Forest (1/17)

Brown Profile: Mobile Georgia quarterback Joe Joe Brown makes his first ever visit to NC State this weekend and he's looking forward to it. Brown told StateFans that NC State just recently offered and he was excited to receive the offer from Wolfpack Assistant Coach Noel Mazzone. He has four visits set, but did hint that if a trip really impresses him he could end his recruitment right then. Other schools strong appeared to be Maryland and Wake Forest.

OG Anthony Parker

Hometown: Lovejoy, GA

Vitals: 6-4/290/5.0

Offers: NCSU, Tenn, L'VILLE, UVA,UMB, NEB among others

Visits Scheduled: NC State (12/5), Maryland (12/12), Tennessee (1/17)

Parker Profile: Parker returns to NC State after taking an unofficial visit in September for the Wolfpack's matchup against the North Carolina Tarheels. He's very interested in the ‘Pack and projects as an offensive guard on the next level with his athleticism and strength. At this point, Tennessee and Maryland are the main competition for Anthony. Compares favorably to current NC State lineman Leroy Harris.

DE Jeremy Lomax

Hometown: Lovejoy, GA

Vitals: 6-6/210/4.7

Offers: NCSU, TENN, UGA, L'VILLE, UVA among others

Visits Scheduled: Virginia (10/17), Indiana (11/21), NC State (12/5), Louisville (12/12)

Lomax Profile: The prototype defensive end that NC State's been recruiting recently, Jeremy is a tall (6'6), lean, and VERY quick off the edge. Similar to Renaldo Moses more so then Mario Williams in body build, Lomax will likely need a year to add more weight before being ready to play. However, his upside is unreal and that's why teams such as Tennessee, Georgia, NC State, and Virginia have put forth offers. The Lovejoy product joins his teammate, the aforementioned Parker, in Raleigh this weekend. The home-state Georgia Bulldogs currently have the lead for Lomax.

LB John Dunlap

Hometown: Hollywood, FL

Vitals: 6-3/215/4.55

Offers: NCSU, MIA, UF, IOWA, TENN among others

Visits Scheduled: NC State (12/5)

Dunlap Profile: John's had an outstanding senior season and has picked up offers from almost every major college in the nation because of it. He's the type of athlete who can play linebacker or wide receiver in college. Most schools, such as NC State and Miami, are recruiting him for defense because of his athleticism, size, and natural instincts to play the position. Dunlap currently favors Miami and Florida, with NC State and Tennessee on the outside looking in.

TE/DE Octavious Darby

Hometown: Hollywood, FL

Vitals: 6-3/235/4.55

Offers: NCSU, IOWA, UF, FSU among others

Visits Scheduled: Iowa (10/24), NC State (12/5)

Darby Profile: Darby, a teammate of John Dunlap at Chaminade-Madona High School in Hollywood, Florida, has a similar offer list to his friend, with the exception being the Hurricanes. Darby's a terrific player in his own right, with the ability to play tight end or defensive end in college. He's being recruited by NC State as a tight end, and is similar in athleticism and size to current Wolfpack standout T.J. Williams. Darby's a prospect that the Wolfpack have a great shot at, and this weekend could really improve their chances. Also, he and Dunlap have hinted at attending the same college together.
