Most national gurus now consider Cherryville (NC) High School's Kenneth Harris the state of North Carolina's top senior wide receiver after he finished with nearly 1,500 yards and 16 touchdowns on the season. On the recruiting front, everything's going as planned for the talented wideout.

"It's going pretty good," Harris told StateFans. "Everything's been going how it should be, and I'm having a good time with it. They haven't been able to visit me because it's a dead period, but I have my official visits set up to Georgia, and [N.C.] State, and Duke. I go to Georgia the 9th, State the weekend after that on the 16th, and I think Duke is the fourth weekend of the month."

After sending out highlight film to regional schools, Harris really started to attract attention from college scouts. Thus far, he's received offers from four ACC programs and one of the SEC's best.

"Virginia, [North] Carolina, [N.C.] State, Duke, and Georgia have offered me scholarships. Duke, State, and Georgia stand out right now. Those are the three I'm really interested in."

Kenneth is also a basketball star for Cherryville, starting at the point guard position for the 13-0 squad. On the season he's averaging nearly 18 points and 10 assists, but will basketball be in his college future?

"I'm doing pretty good in basketball, but I think I'm just going to play football in college. I think I'm just better off playing it because my upside is probably better in football."

Georgia has really come on in the race for Harris after watching him live and on film. He thinks highly of the Bulldog staff and looks forward to this weekend's official visit.

"Coach Bobo is recruiting me for Georgia and I like him. Coach Eason is the receivers coach, and I like him too. They are all great coaches at Georgia and that's why I like them. I think this visit will be a good one too."

NC State Running Backs Coach Dick Portee has done a great job recruiting Harris for the Wolfpack. However, it was Wolfpack Head Coach Chuck Amato who officially offered Harris his NC State scholarship.

"Coach Portee is my recruiting coach for State. He's been down to the school, a couple of my games, and he's a nice guy too. He said I'd be real good if I come up there, and I'm just waiting to see what goes on."

"I met Coach Amato when I went up for an unofficial visit. He's the one who offered me my scholarship, and he's a nice guy that I like talking to."

With it appearing that NC State and Georgia may be the "assumed" leaders for Mr. Harris, could he have a decision following his Bulldog (1/9) and Wolfpack (1/16) official visits?

"I think there's a possibility that I might commit after visiting those two."
