StateFans: I noticed you played in the Shrine Bowl, how did you do out there and did you meet or bond with any players?
Robert Ayers: "I did alright... it was fun and I probably had a couple of tackles. I really became cool with Lawrence Timmons, C.J. Barber, Michael Hamlin, Sinclair Cannon... a bunch of guys. I became friends with almost everybody."
SF: Did any players for the North Carolina squad stand out to you?
RA: "I'd say their running back was pretty good, and a couple of their defensive lineman looked real good. Oh, and I knew the kid Hilee Taylor because we played against his team."
SF: In your recruitment, what schools are you considering at this time?
RA: "Florida State, Florida, Tennessee, South Carolina, and North Carolina State."
SF: What visits do you have left?
RA: "North Carolina State, Tennessee, Florida, and Florida State."
SF: When are those scheduled for?
RA: "I'm going to Tennessee this Saturday and Sunday I'm going to North Carolina State. I'm going to just fly from Tennessee to Raleigh on Sunday. Then I go to Florida next weekend and Florida State the weekend after that."
SF: Will your family be going with you?
RA: "No, it's just going to be me."
SF: What will you be looking for on your visits?
RA: "How the people treat me, how they act, the living environment, the coaches... basically I'm looking to find a family for four years."
SF: Who do you think is recruiting you the hardest?
RA: "They all are.. I can't say just one."
SF: So what schools are you leaning to right now?
RA: "I'd probably say my top ones out of the five would be South Carolina, Tennessee, and Florida. Those just stand out more right now. I still like North Carolina State and Florida State, but I just know more about the other three."
SF: What do you like about North Carolina State?
"Well, they are real young and they got a good head coach who is going to lead them to good things. That's what I like... it starts with the head coach and then it branches out to the assistant coaches."
SF: The last time we talked you didn't mention South Carolina. Did they just get back in with you?
RA: "Yea. Going into the school year South Carolina was one of my favorites, but with the coaching situation I lost some interest. But after a while I realized that not considering them would be a mistake so I took a visit and gave it a shot."
SF: What did you think of that South Carolina visit last week?
RA: "I liked it. They seemed like they hired some good coaches who win and want to win. That's what I'm looking for."
SF: Do you feel that you'll complete all your visits before committing?
RA: "I know I'll take all my visits but if a school has what I want I'd think about it [committing]. But, it's probably going to be after my Florida State visit before I pick though."
SF: If you had to pick one school right now, who would it be?
RA: I couldn't tell you. I still like them all enough to see myself being able to play at any of them."
