He now has NC State's lone scholarship offer at quarterback, and the Wolfpack will host Brent this weekend for his final official visit. Here's the latest on the Florida signal-caller!
StateFans: How did you do on the season?
Brent Schaeffer: "I did good. I finished with like 3,150 passing yards with 33 touchdowns."
SF: Have you played in any All-Star games and how did you do in those?
Brent: "I played in the Florida vs. California and Broward vs. Dade games. I played pretty good."
SF: So, how many scholarship offers do you have now?
Brent: "I got like fifty now, but that's from my junior year mainly though."
SF: Have you narrowed things down any?
Brent: "Yea... I go on my last official visit this weekend to NC State."
SF: What do you like about NC State and what do you expect to see on this visit?
Brent: "Well, I know I'm going to see a lot of South Florida guys and I like their offense. Another thing is they said they are only recruiting me, only want me at quarterback and I'm their #1 guy. I like that."
SF: Outside of NC State, who else are you looking at?
Brent: "Tennessee, Auburn, Kansas State, and South Florida."
SF: Are you leaning to any teams right now?
Brent: "Probably Tennessee, Auburn, and N.C. State."
SF: What do you think separates those three from the other two schools?
Brent: "Having been to Tennessee and Auburn, I like the atmosphere at the school and coaches. The people in the cities are nice and both schools have good tradition. With NC State, they have a real good situation right now at quarterback so I have to see when I go up there how it is."
SF: Which team do you feel you've had the best official visit to thus far and why?
Brent: "Probably Auburn. Because I felt like if I didn't play football that's somewhere I could go."
SF: Which head coaches have stood out to you and why?
Brent: "Coach Fulmer at Tennessee, Coach Leavitt at South Florida, and I like Coach Amato at NC State too. They are all enthusiastic coaches and have good relationships with their players."
SF: Are you fully qualified?
Brent: "Oh yea, I have a 3.3 GPA and my test score is good."
SF: What do you think maybe the deciding factor in your decision?
Brent: "Whatever my gut feeling tells me is where I will go."
SF: Do you have any timeframe for a decision?
Brent: "No, I'll decide after the NC State visit at some point."
