"Yes, I committed to NC State," Dunlap said. "Oh man, I'm excited about it. I like Coach Amato and Coach Doc Holliday. They are a program on the rise, and I love Raleigh. It was a variety of things."
John committed to NC State assistant Doc Holliday tonight in front of his family and friends.
"They are all excited about it. That's where they wanted me to go in the end and experience college away from home. They like Chuck Amato and Doc Holliday too."
A premium athlete, Dunlap can play wide receiver or linebacker. After a fabolous senior season, Superprep tabbed him the #12 prospect in Florida, and John feels that he will begin his career at NC State on the offensive side of the ball.
"They recruited me as a wide receiver. I've played it every since I was a sophomore and I'm comfortable there. I think I can play with anybody because I work so hard."
"As you know we were a running team, but I had 30 catches for around 500 yards and 11 touchdowns."
Although he stated that Miami came in second, the Florida Gators hosted Dunlap this weekend and it made his decision even harder.
"It was great. I like Bill Miller and Ron Zook because they are good people. It was hard for me to break them and Miami hearts like that because over the months you build relationships with those guys. In the end, I just went with what I felt was best, and that's to run with the Wolfpack."
Teammate Octavious Darby is also closing in on a decision. Could it be NC State?
"I can't really say anything right now, but let's put it like this, we want to go to school together."
Any chance that John changes his mind between now and signing day?
"No, my mind is made up. I'm not going to have anymore in-homes. I'm done."
