"Yes sir, he's visiting NC State this weekend," his brother, DeAndre Morgan, told StateFans. "I talked with him earlier and he said he's having a good time. He likes it up there and says so far he feels real comfortable, so we are all happy about that."
DeAndre, who also stars at Riviera Beach (FL) Suncoast as a defensive back, was not real clear as to the reason why DaJuan's scholarship offer was revoked, but believes there is more to it than academics.
"My brother has always made good grades and he has over a 3.0 GPA now so we know that is not the problem," he said. "I think it's because he didn't play this season, and they got another wide receiver from Belle Glades."
This fall the Morgan brothers were both involved in a horrible car accident that kept DaJuan from playing his senior season at Suncoast, leaving him with a dislocated hip and a dislocated finger.
"It was hard on him... I know he wanted to play," DeAndre said.
But in November, and with over twenty offers still on the table, DaJuan visited Ohio State and accepted a scholarship offer from the Buckeyes, effectively ending his recruitment... before now.
"That's the part that's crazy. DaJuan was suppose to visit NC State, Florida, Oklahoma, all of them, but canceled those when he committed. Then last week they tell Coach Bell that he doesn't have a scholarship still?"
Coach Bell of Suncoast then began to contact other schools, trying to see if any of the previous programs still had room for Morgan, and more importantly, a scholarship offer. NC State Assistant Coach Doc Holliday jumped at the opportuntity to recruit Morgan again, a prospect he was on hard early on.
"Doc Holliday called Coach Bell back as soon as he found out and came down here to offer DaJuan a scholarship. They set up the visit for this weekend and that's where he's at now."
What does Deandre believe his brother will end up doing?
"I think he will sign with NC State. It's closer to home and we can go up and watch some of the games next year. They even play Ohio State next year on September 18th."
DaJuan is a super wide receiver prospect from Florida who had offers from NC State, Ohio State, Florida, Virginia Tech, Oklahoma, and Tennessee among others before choosing the Buckeyes. He's one of Florida's fastest prep players and is currently the #51 player in the state according to Superprep.
StateFans will have more from DaJuan Morgan tomorrow when he returns from his official visit to NC State.
