Hodge Named ACC Men's Player of the Week

GREENSBORO, N.C. -- NC State's Julius Hodge earned his second straight ACC Player of the Week selection after leading the Wolfpack to a pair of wins over No. 16 Wake Forest and Virginia this past week.

Against Wake Forest, Hodge led the charge as NC State erased an 18-point deficit to earn a 73-68 come-from-behind win over the Deacs. The junior forward/guard scored 18 points on 7 of 13 shooting, while collecting four assists, three rebounds and two blocked shots.

At Virginia, the Harlem, N.Y., native posted a game-high 26 points on 7 of 12 shooting, including 85 percent from the free throw line (11 of 13). In 37 minutes of action, he posted seven rebounds, three assists and a blocked shot as the Wolfpack downed the Cavs, 79-63.

For the week, Hodge averaged 22.0 points while shooting 56 percent (14 of 25) from the field and 82 percent (14 of 17) from the charity stripe. NC State returns to the hardwood on Tuesday, February 10 as they host Florida State and then Duke on Sunday.

Duke's Luol Deng garnered his second consecutive ACC Rookie of the Week honor after guiding the Blue Devils to victories over No. 17 North Carolina and Clemson this past week.

Deng posted his fourth double-double of the season at North Carolina with 17 points and a career-high 12 rebounds in the Blue Devils' 83-81 overtime victory. In 41 minutes of action against the Tar Heels, the freshman guard/forward shot 50 percent from the floor (6 of 12) and 71 percent from the charity stripe (5 of 7) while tying a career-high five assists. He scored eight points in the final four minutes of regulation and overtime play to help Duke overcome a seven-point deficit.

Versus Clemson, the London, England native tied a career-high with 22 points on 7 of 10 shooting en route to an 81-55 victory for the Blue Devils. Deng also added seven rebounds and three steals against the Tigers.

For the week, Deng averaged 19.5 points, 9.5 rebounds, 2.5 assists and 1.5 steals while shooting 59 percent from the floor (13 of 22) and 80 percent from the free throw line (12 of 15).

Duke will next face Virginia on Wednesday, February 11 at 7:00 pm.
