NC State Survives Hungry Seminoles 78-71

GREENSBORO, N.C. (AP) -- Julius Hodge scored 19 points to lead No. 17 North Carolina State past Florida State 78-71 in the Atlantic Coast Conference tournament quarterfinals Friday. <p> <a href="">Box Score</a> I <a href="">Recap</a>

"Marcus Melvin added 16 points and grabbed eight rebounds for the Wolfpack (20-8), who have won 12 in a row against the Seminoles, their longest winning streak ever over an ACC rival. N.C. State will face the winner of the Maryland-Wake Forest game in Saturday's semifinals.

Tim Pickett scored a game-high 23 points for the Seminoles (18-13), who have lost their last five games and weakened their NCAA tournament hopes. They committed 16 turnovers and wasted an 11-point lead in the final 13 minutes."
