Jeffrey has been offered by Florida State, Pittsburgh, Oklahoma, and NC State.
"I had an interest in Ohio State, but I have since decided I like NC State a little more," said Owens.
The big defensive tackle made an unofficial visit to Miami recently for junior day and came away impressed.
"It was good. It actually was better than I had expected."
Jeffrey has an interest in some schools outside Florida, but if he has his way he will more than likely stay in state. He does plan on taking official visits to all five of his favorites. Owens will be going to the Nike camp at Miami on Sunday. This summer his plans include Miami football camp, Pittsburgh football camp, and the Down & Dirty camp at Miami.
Miami has a steep tradition with producing great defensive lineman. Does Jeffrey think about that or would he rather go somewhere he can start a new tradition himself?
"I plan on shining no matter where I am at."
During a recent interview I asked Jeffrey Owens to break down each of his five favorites. What does he know and like about each program?
Miami- Academics, close to home, and a winning tradition
Florida State- Winningest coach in football, I got to watch them practice a few times and I like the way they do things.
Pittsburgh- Love the coaches, Coach Partridge and Coach Harris are great guys, and they have the best facilities.
Oklahoma- Good coaches, and they are always in the hunt for a National Championship.
NC State- I like coach Amato, they are an up and coming school in the ACC
Owens plans on waiting until signing day to make his decision. One goal that Jeffrey would like to accomplish is a spot on the US Army All American Bowl game roster.
