As far as athletic defensive ends go, you won't find any better in the state of Virginia than Antonio Appleby. Appleby is a 6' 4 defensive end/tight end from Virginia Beach (Va.) Salem high school.

Appleby has two offers so far and should get more as the recruiting process heats up.

"I have offers from Virginia Tech and North Carolina. Virginia and N.C. State are also showing interest. They are all pretty equal right now," says Antonio.

"I've taken unofficials to UNC and N.C. State, and I'm going to Virginia Tech on April 24th. I don't have a visit to UVA set right now."

"I want to stay close to home so my parents can see me play," he said.

The athletic defensive end has an impressive resume to show off that includes All-State Honorable mention at tight end, All-TideWater defensive end, All-Region tight end, and All-District at both tight end and defensive end. If Antonio's list of accomplishments and physical traits aren't enough to impress you, then how about a 3.3 GPA and an 1100 on the SAT.

Don't look for a decision anytime soon. "I want to take advantage of all my visits. I don't really know when I will commit."

Coach's Comments: "We feel that his talent level is such that he can play on Sundays, so looking at strength and conditioning facilities is important. He is a great student, a 3.3 and up 1100-plus on the SAT, so when he looks at the school he will look at the academic side." -- Salem Head Coach Vincent Pugh

Virginia Beach (VA) Defensive End Antonio Appleby was in Raleigh this weekend for NC State's annual Spring Game. StateFans will have more from Antonio on his impressions of the Wolfpack.
