Based on Owens' actions last year, it doesn't look like he'll be venturing too far from home if he has his way.

"Miami was my favorite team growing up," said Owens. "I went to all of their home games last year. I've gotten offers from NC State and Pittsburgh so far. My Top 5 right now is Miami, LSU, NC State, Pittsburgh, and Michigan. Some other teams invited me to their spring game, like Alabama, Florida State, Florida, Ole Miss, and Maryland."

Plantation had a solid team last year finishing 10-2 and losing in the second round of the playoffs. Owens said that they have 15 starters returning from that team last year, and they should definitely be a team to keep an eye on in the fall. Plantation will get a jump on next season when spring practice starts May 1st.

Owens is a good student that keeps busy year round with football and track. He throws the shot and discus for Plantation's track team. His academics coupled with his ability on the field will make him a very attractive prospect for college recruiters.

Editor's Note: Jeffrey reportedly performed very well at the recent Miami NIKE Camp, pumping 36 reps of 185 pounds on the bench to lead the camp. Owens will likely be considered Florida's top defensive tackle prospect in 2005 and already has an official NC State offer. Expect Jeff and Plantation teammate Cedric McGee to be names to follow this Wolfpack recruiting season, as both are very interested in NC State.
