"Yes sir, Mike's transferring from N.C. State," Largo (FL) High School Basketball Coach Philip Price told Statefans. "I was at a track meet and called his mother who said Mike's going to transfer. I believe he talked with Coach Sendek today about his intentions."
It has been speculated that O'Donnell will be leaving N.C. State to receive significant playing time at another university. With Georgetown transfer Tony Bethel eligible next season and starting point guard Engin Atsur returning, Mike was expected to receive little playing time in 2004-05.
"I know when I talked to Mike, he really seemed to love it up at N.C. State," Coach Price said. "But the competitive nature in him wants to play and be on the floor more, so that has to be the reason."
A 5'11 point guard from Largo, FL., O'Donnell saw in action in 30 games in 2003-2004, including 7 starts. He averaged 2.4 points and 1.1 assists per game in 11.3 minutes per contest.
