Cotchery Headed to New York

NC State Wide Receiver Jerricho Cotchery has been selected by the New York Jets in the fourth round of the NFL Draft. Cotchery was the 108th pick overall in the draft and is the third Wolfpack player chosen after Philip Rivers (San Diego) and Sean Locklear (Seattle) were picked on Saturday.

Jerricho, a Birmingham (Al.) native, was a two-time first-team All-Atlantic Coast Conference selection his final two years at NC State. He broke school records with 200 career receptions and 15 career 100-yard receiving games, marks previously held by former Wolfpack great Torry Holt. Cotchery also finished second to Holt in school history with 3,119 yards and 21 touchdown catches.

He will join a revamped New York Jets receiver corps who recently added Justin McCareins from Tennessee and released veteran Curtis Conway in the offseason. Cotchery, McCareins, and current starter Santana Moss could be the future standouts at wide reciever for New York, who already has a star quarterback in Chad Pennington.
