LB Artis Warthen of Miramar, Fla. has attracted quite a bit of recruiting interest and NC State has emerged as one of his early favorites. StateFans takes an in-depth look at the Florida 'backer.

Position: OLB

Physical Stats: Warthen checks in at 6-2, 205 pounds and boasts 4.6-second speed in the 40-yard dash. He has an impressive 34-inch vertical leap and is currently bench pressing 250 pounds.

Statistics: As a junior, Warthen racked up 89 tackles including 11 sacks, six tackles-for-loss, four pass breakups, three fumbles caused and two fumble recoveries.

Artis Warthen describing himself: "I'm a very heady player and aggressive at the point of attack. I'm always making big plays. I'm a leader, relentless and I always love to blitz and create havoc."

What Warthen will be looking for in a future school: "I'm looking for graduation success, winning tradition and that tight-knit family environment. Important as well is my parents coming to see me play."

Warthen on NC State: "Though I haven't met Coach Amato nor Coach Holliday, all I've ever heard from my position coach (Damon Cogsdale) is how wonderful they are. Coach Cogsdale swears by Coach Holliday that he is the best and one of the most influential people he has ever met. But also, I like the program's success and (Pack DE) Maurice Charles says it was the right place for him and that it is really a great place. He also said the coaches care about you and prepare you each and every week."

Academics: Warthen reports a 3.2 GPA and hopes to major in Business Management.
