Kyle's week began with a Monday flight to Indiana for his first official visit to Notre Dame. The Irish rolled out the red carpet, in hopes of landing an early verbal commitment.
"It's been a dream for me I guess... with the Irish," he said. "Around here their tradition is big. I really like the guys, the campus, and the coaches especially. Chris Thomas and Chris Quinn were my hosts and they showed me everything. I liked it."
After checking out the Irish, McAlarney's next trip was to Raleigh, North Carolina. NC State's made him a priority early and have definitely left an impression on the fiery New Yorker.
"It's the big-time ACC, and N.C. State has a big-time coach," he noted. "It's just beautiful, and a place that would be perfect to live. Their facilities were off-the-charts, and I think they have to be the best in the country. Everything went great while I was there."
Wolfpack forward Ilian Evtimov hosted McAlarney while he was in Raleigh, and the two really seemed to click.
"I liked Ilian. He's great and showed me everything I needed to see."
With offers from NC State, Notre Dame, St. Johns, Rutgers, and Wake Forest among others, Kyle has only one other visit scheduled at this time. He will take a trip to St. John's University next week, and although some feel the Wolfpack and Irish hold the edge, he's still taking the visit to St. John's.
"I'm still considering St. John's," McAlarney said. "They definitely have a shot because I like New York."
Could a decision come after his visit to St. John's?
"I want to decide before July, but I could do it after that trip. It's just going to be a tough decision... they are all real good schools."
