James Plans to Camp at NC State

It's hard enough for a receiver to get noticed in a run-first offense. Imagine playing in a run-first offense and having to share the few passing plays with an equally talented wide out lining up across the o-line.

Wilmington (N.C.) Ashley Geron James faced the aforementioned obstacle last season and was successful enough to earn offers for Virginia Tech and Maryland. However, some coaching staffs are still not convinced.

"Most coaches want to see me physically," remarked James, who is receiving additional interest from N.C. State, Georgia Tech and North Carolina. "They want me to come to one-day camps and perform."

The camps on James's preliminary slate include N.C. State, Georgia Tech, Virginia Tech and Maryland. Although he would welcome any new offers, the 6-foot-4, 175-pounder aspires to leave Atlanta with an offer from his co-leader.

"Well there are two schools that I really like," stated James. "Pretty much Georgia Tech and Virginia Tech. Georgia Tech is like right in the middle of Atlanta, it's real nice. It's a nice school and they pass 50% of the time, and they have a nice formation on offense. And then Virginia Tech they are just a powerful team with speed and just great athletes."

James did make the most of his opportunities last season by recording 308 yards and two touchdowns on 23 catches. He also returned 2 kickoffs for touchdowns.
