Tigers Eliminate the Wolfpack, 12-1

SALEM, Va. (AP) - Tyler Lumsden pitched 7 2/3 strong innings and Clemson scored seven runs in the first inning Friday in a 12-1 victory against North Carolina State in an ACC tournament elimination game.

"The Tigers (36-23), playing only about 12 hours after an 11-7, 13-inning loss to Georgia Tech in a game that took 4½ hours, advanced to another elimination game Friday night against North Carolina or Duke.

Lumsden (5-3), a Roanoke native who didn't make it out of the first inning when he started here last season, was sharp. He allowed just five hits, struck out 10, walked three and left after a single in the eighth."
