"Things are going pretty good," Willie Young told StateFans. "I just finshed up high school. Now I'm just working on my strength and building up my conditioning right now."
Young informed StateFans last month that he was confident he would receive a qualifying SAT score.
"Yea, I'm just waiting on this last SAT score to come in, but I have a lot of confidence in that," he said. "I'll know for sure before the middle of July, but I'm just trying to get it higher that's all."
Young mentioned that if needed he will likely have another one or two tries to receive the required score, but strongly believes that won't be necessary.
"I know I got it this past time because I didn't have my calculator with me the time before."
Willie played much of last season around 200 pounds, using his outstanding athleticism, speed, and agility to finish with over 60 tackles and 12 sacks on the season. Now he's busy adding weight so he can possibly contribute as a true freshman for the Wolfpack.
"Yea, I'm up to about 210 now," he said. "I'm not sure how much bigger they want me to get, but we'll work that out when I get up to [NC] State. I'm going to get up there as soon as I can."
StateFans will have the latest on Willie Young after he receives his SAT scores so stay tuned!
Young Scouting Report: On film, Willie showcases great speed and athleticism off the edge. He has long arms that allow him to get off blocks quickly and disrupt the passing lanes. Deceptive strength and is very agile. Long, lanky athlete who will need to add weight to play defensive end at NC State, but has all the tools to be a great one. Physically resembles current Wolfpacker Manny Lawson and 2005 commit Chad Green coming out of high school. Fits in nicely with the new "mold" of defensive ends that NC State recruits.
Check out these exclusive clips from StateFans, and you will see why Young is one of the nation's premier incoming defensive end prospects!
