Before the draft, Brackman told professional teams he hoped to play basketball for the Wolfpack and then play pro baseball in the summer, according to his father, Mark Brackman. Although projected as a third- to fifth-round selection by Baseball America as a right-handed pitcher, Brackman wasn't drafted.
