6/15/04: StateFans Basketball Recruiting Board

After landing one of the top recruiting classes in 2004, the NC State Wolfpack are again hard at work on the recruiting trail. <P> With five scholarships available, the Wolfpack coaching staff has plenty of options to pursue this recruiting period.

The StateFans Recruiting Board is in no way connected with the NC State coaching staff. This board is for our readers to remain updated with the recruitment of players who have shown an interest in NC State. Players are listed according to their interest in NC State through various media outlets.


SG Courtney Fells

Hometown: Shannon, MS

Vitals: 6-5/190/19 PPG

Schools of Interest: NC State (Offer), Georgia Tech

Fells Profile: Courtney was a virtual unknown amongst recruiting analysts and Wolfpack fans a mere month ago. Now he's a major target for NC State and had a "wonderful" official visit to Raleigh on May 15th. The Wolfpack leads for this super wing prospect who has a great stroke and is very athletic.

SG Jermaine Taylor

Hometown: Tavares, FL

Vitals: 6-4/190/29 PPG

Schools of Interest: NC State, Stanford, Wake Forest, Florida State, Kentucky, Colorado State and Seton Hall

Taylor Profile: Scores in a variety of ways. Played for the Southpointe Shooters after his sophomore year and is now with Team Breakdown. SG Trevor Ferguson

Hometown: Oldsmar, FL (Oldsmar Christian HS)

Vitals: 6-5/180/ -

Schools of Interest: NC State, UNLV, Nebraska, USF, Boston College

Ferguson Profile: A combo guard from Florida, Ferguson is an exciting athlete who plays the game with a lot of flair. Broke both of his wrists in January, yet was an All-State player at Oldsmar Christian High School. PG JuJuan Spillman

Hometown: Louisville, KY

Vitals: 5-11/185/15

Schools of Interest: NC State, Louisville, Cincinnati, Marquette

Spillman Profile: Super quick point guard prospect who is reporting heavy interest from NC State. A very good three-pointer shooter and a solid floor general. JuJuan is one of the better dual-sport stars in the country, as he's also receiving heavy interest from high-majors as a wide receiver in football.

G Booker Woodfox

Hometown: Lewisville, TX

Vitals: 6-1/170/26 PPG

Schools of Interest: NC State, Utah, Alabama

Woodfox Profile: Attended the 2003 Nike Hoop Jamboree where he was one of the best shooters there. Woodfox gets his shot off quickly and is accurate. Plays some point and is one of the top 2005 players in Texas.

G Jimmy Conyers

Hometown: Baltimore, MD

Vitals: 6-4/180/16 PPG

Schools of Interest: NC State, Virginia Tech, George Mason, and Penn State

Conyers Profile: A very good athlete who's best when attacking the basket, Conyers attended NC State's recent skills camp in Raleigh. He's being evaluated by the Wolfpack.


SG/SF Marcus Williams

Hometown: Seattle, WA (Roosevelt High School)

Vitals: 6-6/185/28 PPG

Schools of Interest: NC State(Offer), Washington, Florida, Kansas, Texas, Arizona, UCONN

Williams Profile: Talk about a prospect who's stock is on the rise, Williams is garnering top 25 mention after his early AAU outings. The Seattle, Washington native has a great list of schools and the Wolfpack will definitely land an official visit according to his most recent interview. At 6'6 and 185 pounds, Marcus has a diversified offensive game, the athleticism to finish around the rim, and the desire to defend.

PG/SF J.P. Prince

Hometown: Memphis, TN (White Station High School)

Vitals: 6-7/190/--

Schools of Interest: NC State (Offer), Kentucky, Memphis, Arkansas, Oklahoma, Tennessee

Prince Profile: Labeled a "point forward" prospect by analysts, the 6'7 Prince often handles the point slot for his AAU and high school squads. His versatility has led to increased recruiting interest with the Wolfpack reportedly impressed by his array of skills. Playing in the middle of SEC country it could be hard for NC State to land J.P., but don't be surprised if they show up on his next list of favorites.

SF Derrick Brown

Hometown: Dayton, OH (Chaminade-Julienne High School)

Vitals: 6-7/190/17 PPG

Schools of Interest: NC State (Offer), Xavier, Michigan State, Dayton, Cincinnati, Ohio State

Brown Profile: Brown had a strong junior season for Chaminade-Julienne, averaging 17 points and 8 rebounds while shooting nearly 70% from the field. He's a bouncy athlete who's an unknown nationally because of little to known AAU exposure, but the colleges are already tracking his progress. NC State, Xavier, Michigan State, Michigan, and Dayton have all already extended scholarship offers.

SF Chad Millard

Hometown: Trinity, NH (Brewster Academy)

Vitals: 6-8/195/17

Schools of Interest: NC State (Offer), Louisville, Kansas, Providence, Missouri

Millard Profile: Gurus believe NC State and Louisville quietly lead for Chad, a rising prospect from New Hampshire. At 6'8 and 195 pounds, he's an outstanding small forward prospect who's athletic, skilled, and savvy. Other teams in the mix include Missouri, Kansas, and Providence. Millard had a great unofficial visit at NC State prior to the Bob Gibbons Tournament of Champions.

SF Gerald Green

Hometown:Houston, TX (Gulf Shores Academy)

Vitals: 6-8/200/ --

Schools of Interest: North Carolina State, Kansas, Oklahoma State, Oklahoma, Michigan, Virginia, Texas A&M, and Arizona State

Green Profile: Green could emerge as one of the country's top prospects once he puts it all together. Has an impressive package of skill and athleticism. NC State's been in contact and are impressed with the Marcus Melvin-type versatility he brings to the table.

SF Danny Green

Hometown: Manhasset, NY (St. Mary's High School)

Vitals: 6-5/200/18 PPG

Schools of Interest: NC State, Stanford, UCONN, Florida, Pittsburgh

Green Profile: Another New York player targeted by NC State, Danny plays for the famous New York Panthers, which alums include Ron Artest, Charlie Villenueva, and Jason Fraser among others. Green, who has been compared to Artest by his AAU coach, is the star of this year's squad and has impressed early in the AAU season. At a solid 6'5 and 200 pounds, Danny has the versatility to play three positions and does a lot of things well. A great student, NC State, Stanford, and Pittsburgh are his early favorites. Danny had a great unofficial visit at NC State prior to the Bob Gibbons Tournament of Champions.

F Casaan Breeden

Hometown: Bennettsville, SC (Marlboro County High School)

Vitals: 6-8/195/16 PPG

Schools of Interest: NC State, Auburn, Clemson, South Carolina, Georgia, Miami (Fl.)

Breeden Profile: Cassan and NC State have had an up-and-down relationship, with the talented prospect listing the Wolfpack on-and-off over the months. After attending their skills camp this past week, it looks like the Wolfpack are back evaluating the talented South Carolina prospect.


PF/C Ben McCauley

Hometown: Yough, PA

Vitals: 6-9/230/24 PPG

Schools of Interest: NC State (Offer), Xavier, Pittsburgh, North Carolina, Maryland

McCauley Profile: NC State has been recruiting Ben since his sophomore season and is in great shape to secure his verbal commitment. He's added weight this year to help his post game, and it's slowed some of his perimeter progress, but teams still love his toughness. NC State, Xavier, Cincy, and UCLA among others have offered the Yough (Pa.) star. McCauley spent this past weekend in Raleigh with his high school squad participating in NC State's team camp.

PF Brandon Costner

Hometown: West Orange, NJ (Seton Hall Prep)

Vitals: 6-8/220/18 PPG

Schools of Interest: NC State (Offer), Kansas, UCLA, North Carolina, UCONN

Costner Profile: Brandon still has a rather lengthy list of schools, but NC State's definitely one of his leaders. He's reportedly impressed with the Wolfpack's offense and the freedom it gives post players. Costner's game would be a perfect match for NC State's system and he knows this. Other favorites include UCONN, Kansas, and UCLA.

PF Ryan Reid

Hometown: Lauderdale Lakes, FL

Vitals: 6-9/220/ 19 PPG

Schools of Interest: NC State, UCONN, Kansas, and Florida

Reid Profile: Reid (photo courtesy of the Miami Herald) is coming off a junior campaign in which he averaged 18.5 points, 13 boards and 5 blocks per game. He's athletic, aggressive around the basket, and can also knock down the mid-range jumper. Impressed observers at the Kingswood Classic and has at times overshadowed more highly-regarded AAU teammates Alex Rouff and Jermonte Bush.
