Q & A With Standout WR Josh Briscoe

The following is a Q & A session with standout WR Josh Briscoe of Burns High School in Lawndale, NC. Questions were submitted by the members of StateFans.com

StateFans- Josh, what is the most important thing you are looking for in your future school of choice?

Josh Briscoe- The school must have my major and be highly respected. Depth at my position and (a good) QB, coaching staff and early playing time (are also important).

StateFans- What part of your game do you want to improve on prior to the start of the season and how will you measure your improvement once the season begins?

Josh Briscoe- I want to be more physical. The stronger and bigger I get, the more physical I will be able to be. I want to be known as a Terell Owens type receiver who is big and uses his body, but also has the speed to break away from defenders. Right now, I consider myself more like Randy Moss which relies on speed mainly.

StateFans- Would you call yourself a possession receiver or a breakaway threat ?

Josh Briscoe- I can do both. I'm not afraid to go across the middle to catch a pass and I have the speed to go down field and outrun, out jump, and outmaneuver a defender.

StateFans- How aware are you of the Wolfpack tradition over the past 5-6 years of producing All-ACC, All-American, and NFL wide receivers? If so, could you compare yourself (body size, athleticism, type of receiver, etc.) to recent NC State wide-outs such as Torry Holt, Koren Robinson and Jerricho Cotchery, etc.? Thanks again for taking the time to address some of our thoughts and good luck in your senior year.

Josh Briscoe- State has put many persons in the NFL in the past few years. Tony Scott, who played, won a state title, and graduated from my high school went to play to State. Torry Holt and Koren Robinson were great receivers in college and the pros. Cotchery I do believe will do well in the NFL because of the offense State runs. If I could compare myself to be one of those receivers, I would say Torry Holt. He knows the game. He knows how to use a defender's weakness against them. He's probably one of the best receivers in the game right now.

StateFans- Being a top prospect, you are getting attention from a lot of different schools. What coaching staffs are making the biggest impressions on you and how would you say they have succeeded in doing so? Thanks and best of luck next year.

Josh Briscoe- Well, Virginia has probably recruited me the hardest, with Clemson and Georgia following in next.

StateFans- Outside of playing football (or any other professional sport), what is your dream job? What do you want to do after college if the NFL isn't an option?

Josh Briscoe- I would like to coach football or to teach.

StateFans- What kind of offensive system are you looking to play under? State runs a very wide open system, does that appeal to you? Good luck this year.

Josh Briscoe- I want to play for a team that is going to spread the field and throw the football.

StateFans- What do you like most about NC State and Head Coach Chuck Amato?

Josh Briscoe- They run the wide open offense and throw the football around a lot.

StateFans- When do you think you will make your decision? Is there any other recruits you would like to play at the same school with?

Josh Briscoe- I will make my decision when I feel it's the right time. It might be signing day, or it might be next week. I don't know yet. There are a few players that I would like to connect up with, but I'm not going to name any at this point.
