Brown Heading to Hargrave

StateFans caught up with NC State signee Andre Brown on Thursday afternoon and we have the latest on his status for next season.

Andre Brown will have to wait a while before enrolling into NC State. Brown recently received his test scores and he came up just short of a qualifying score.

"I missed it by 20 points. I'm going to Hargrave until January. I have talked everything over with Coach Diaz," Brown told StateFans on Thursday. Andre stated that he reports to Hargrave in August.

While just missing on the SAT is a disappointment, the NC player of the year is looking forward to the challenge of Hargrave.

"I think it is going to be a good learning experience for me," Andre told StateFans. "I have been down here (in Greenville) by myself, and I have not really had a parent to help make me out. The discipline will help me out and better prepare me for college."

Brown completed his career at Greenville Rose by helping the Rampants win the 2004 4A baseball and football state championships.

A consensus top 10 back in the country, Andre broke the state's single-season rushing record and was named AP North Carolina Player of the Year. He chose the Wolfpack over North Carolina, Virginia, and West Virginia among others.
