"I go to State next Monday, I'm qualified," Lamarte told StateFans. "I found out May 28th when I graduated."
McGhee has been staying in shape over the summer with some advice from current Wolfpack player Chris Hawkins.
"I have been lifting and running everyday. I lift twice a day," said McGhee. "I have been talking to my boy Chris Hawkins and he was telling me about the running they do on a daily basis. I try to do twenty-one 100 yard sprints. I do six 100 yard sprints at a 75% pace and then work my way up until I get into playing shape."
Lamarte has some short-term goals when he takes to the field this fall.
"I want to get some playing time if not start on the weak side," he said. "That strong side is taken already."
McGhee is one of the eight defensive lineman signed by NC State this year. He also was the first 2004 recruit to commit to the Wolfpack, doing so on signing day of 2003.
