9/27/04: Pack Pride Basketball Recruiting Board

After landing one of the top recruiting classes in 2004, the NC State Wolfpack are again hard at work on the recruiting trail. <P> With three commitments in the fold, NC State appears to have just one priority left on the board.

The Pack Pride Recruiting Board is in no way connected with the NC State coaching staff. This board is for our readers to remain updated with the recruitment of players who have shown an interest in NC State. Players are listed according to their interest in NC State through various media outlets.

GUARD

SG Courtney Fells

Hometown: Shannon, MS

Vitals: 6-5/190/19 PPG

Schools of Interest: NC STATE VERBAL

Fells Profile: Fells committed to NC State on May 20, and is the Wolfpack's first Class of '05 commitment. He's a talented guard prospect who is steadily climbing the recruiting rankings. He was NC State's #1 priority and is a dynamic shooting guard who will vie for early playing time as soon as he arrives in Raleigh.

PG J.P. Prince

Hometown: Memphis, TN (White Station High School)

Vitals: 6-7/190/--

Schools of Interest: NC State (Offer), Memphis, Florida, Arizona, and Vanderbilt

Prince Profile: Labeled a "point forward" prospect by analysts, the 6'7 Prince often handles the point slot for his AAU and high school squads. His versatility has led to increased recruiting interest with the Wolfpack reportedly impressed by his array of skills. NC State's offense is appealing to Prince and they offer the chance to play point guard on the next level. UPDATE: 9/27: He's reportedly down to five schools and has one visit left to Florida. NC State's definitely in the mix.

SWINGMAN

NONE

POWER FORWARD/CENTER

PF/C Ben McCauley

Hometown: Yough, PA

Vitals: 6-9/230/24 PPG

Schools of Interest: NC STATE VERBAL

McCauley Profile: NC State has been recruiting Ben since his sophomore season and is in great shape to secure his verbal commitment. He's added weight this year to help his post game, and it's slowed some of his perimeter progress, but teams still love his toughness. NC State, Xavier, Cincy, and UCLA among others have offered the Yough (Pa.) star. McCauley spent this past weekend in Raleigh with his high school squad participating in NC State's team camp. UPDATE: 9/27: McCauley committed to NC State last month and will add depth and versatility to the Wolfpack front court.

PF Brandon Costner

Hometown: West Orange, NJ (Seton Hall Prep)

Vitals: 6-8/220/18 PPG

Schools of Interest: NC STATE VERBAL

Costner Profile: Brandon still has a rather lengthy list of schools, but NC State's definitely one of his leaders. He's reportedly impressed with the Wolfpack's offense and the freedom it gives post players. Costner's game would be a perfect match for NC State's system and he knows this. UPDATE: 9/27: Brandon committed to NC State on September 22nd, just days after his official visit to Raleigh. He canceled a planned trip to Kansas prior to making the decision.
