In making the announcement, head football coach Larry Coker said, "Bobby and his parents came to us and sought to be released from his letter of intent, and we are in the process of granting that release. We wish Bobby tremendous success wherever he may go."
Washington originally chose the Hurricanes over NC State, Auburn, Iowa, Ohio State, Tennessee, and Georgia among others. He was the #4 running back in the nation by TheInsiders.com.
Sources close to the situation have stated that NC State is one of the programs that Washington is considering for enrollment.
Washington starred for three seasons at Miami (Fl.) Killian High School. Ex-teamates Andre Maddox, Pat Thomas, Miguel Scott, and Stephen Tulloch are currently at NC State and could be a major advantage for the Wolfpack.
