Coach: "We Don't Know What's Going to Happen"

Former Wolfpack Target Bobby Washington has been released from his letter of intent, according to a press release from the University of Miami athletic department. <P> <B>10:20 PM UPDATE: </b>Coach adds more information on the Bobby Washington situation.

CORAL GABLES, Fla. - The University of Miami athletic department announced today that Bobby Washington, a 2004 football signee from Killian High School in Miami, will be granted his release from the letter of intent he signed in February.

In making the announcement, head football coach Larry Coker said, "Bobby and his parents came to us and sought to be released from his letter of intent, and we are in the process of granting that release. We wish Bobby tremendous success wherever he may go."

Washington originally chose the Hurricanes over NC State, Auburn, Iowa, Ohio State, Tennessee, and Georgia among others. He was the #4 running back in the nation by

Sources close to the situation have stated that NC State is one of the programs that Washington is considering for enrollment.

Washington starred for three seasons at Miami (Fl.) Killian High School. Ex-teamates Andre Maddox, Pat Thomas, Miguel Scott, and Stephen Tulloch are currently at NC State and could be a major advantage for the Wolfpack.

UPDATE: Pack Pride spoke briefly with Killian Head Coach Billy Rolle for the latest.

"My phone has been ringing off the hook about Bobby," Coach Rolle said. "Obviously he's upset about the situation but after talking with the NC State coaching staff he's feeling better. That is now where he plans on going, and it should just be a formality at this point."

10:20 PM UPDATE: Pack Pride once again spoke with Coach Billy Rolle who says now the situation is on hold for the moment.

"Well, now things have changed some since the last time we talked," Coach Rolle said. "They have him waiting a couple of days now and haven't really officially released him."

"So now we don't know what's going to happen and probably won't for a couple of days. Hopefully by Thursday we'll know what's going to happen."
