National Champs Join the Race for Turkovich

Valley Forge (Pa.) Military Academy Offensive Lineman Michael Turkovich camped recently at Louisiana State and the national champs have now entered the race for his services.

After impressing the Tiger coaches in workouts, LSU joined a strong list of suitors by offering Turkovich a scholarship.

He has now camped at West Virginia, North Carolina, Duke, NC State, Wisconsin, Boston College, and LSU. Each of those schools have now extended full scholarships and Mike talks about his recent experience at Louisiana State.

"It was nice," Michael Turkovich told Pack Pride. "I really didn't know what to expect going down there, but I liked it. It's a great program as far as winning, especially with what they did last year. I liked it."

Another program that impressed Turkovich has been NC State, and Wolfpack assistant coach Mike Barry is handling his recruitment.

"NC State's definitely one of the schools I'm looking at... they're really up there," he said. "I like Coach Barry and the program down there is strong. They have nice facilities, it's a building program and Coach Amato's straight with you. It's not as far away from home as some other schools so that's pretty good too."

Currently he's looking at four schools, and it sounds like his list is final.

"I would say it's LSU, NC State, Wisconsin, and maybe Boston College," he said. "Those are the main ones I'm considering... I like some other schools, but I'll probably choose from those four."

Admitting that he doesn't have a leader at the moment with all programs equal, Turkovich had previously mentioned making a decision by the end of July. Now he hopes to have a decision by the end of this month.

"Yea, I'm thinking about it," he said. "I don't want to make a decision too quick but I also don't want to hesitate with my decision. I've been going through a list of factors to help me narrow it down and right now I'm still looking to commit early... probably mid-to-late August."

Turkovich projects as a full qualifier and is undecided on a college major but is considering Business or Engineering.
