One of NC's best looking hard at the Pack

Pack Pride has the latest on speedy athlete Levin Neal of Wilmington, North Carolina.

Levin Neal is a 5-11, 185 pound athlete from Ashley High School in Wilmington, NC with blazing 4.4-second speed in the 40-yard dash. He spent this past summer camping at several schools and in the process came away with better than a half dozen offers.

"I hadn't got any new offers lately," said Neal. "But I do have offers from Clemson, Maryland, NC State, Virginia Tech, UNC, Duke and Wake Forest."

Originally from Lexington, Ky, Neal moved to North Carolina when he was five years old and today, finds himself as one of NC's most sought-after athletes. Recruited as both a CB and WR, Neal attended camps this summer with Florida State, NC State, Georgia and Virginia Tech.

As for favorites, NC State looks strong in-state but they'll be battling a trio of football heavyweights for his commitment later this year.

"My top schools right now are NC State, Florida, Florida State and Georgia," said Neal. "Right now everyone is pretty equal. I don't really have any idea of where I want to go just yet."

Neal got a chance to see NC State up close earlier this year when his team camped in Raleigh and that trip has solidified the Pack as a solid contender in the race for his commitment.

"NC State's campus is one of the best I've been on," said Neal. "That's one thing I was looking at when I camped there. Also, the football program is gaining and I liked it up there a lot."

Ashley High School also boasts another talented prospect in WR Geron James. The 6-4, 175 pound wide-out has already garnered scholarship offers from Maryland, Virginia Tech and East Carolina. However, according to Neal, James is really hoping for a Wolfpack offer at some point.

"He really wants to go to NC State," said Neal. "That's where he wants to go. We've not really talked about attending the same school though."

As for Neal, he's put recruiting somewhat on the back-burner as he prepares for his senior season. However, he plans to firm up his official visit plans once recruiting hits high gear next month.

"I'm waiting for the schools to start back calling so I can figure out my official visits," said Neal. "I do plan on going to some games though. I plan to come to the NC State-Miami game and the NC State-Ohio State game."
