Nestled in rural Virginia, Hargrave Military Academy has become quite the hub for college football recruiters and talented prospects alike. The school has been particularly friendly to NC State over the years and a favored stopping off point for high school seniors needing to improve their academic standing before heading to Raleigh.
From Torry Holt to TJ Williams in year's past or Anthony Hill and Darrell Blackman in 2003, Hargrave has helped prepare several of State's top athlete's for the rigors of college life. Former Wolfpack coach Joe Pate headed up NC State's recruiting efforts at Hargrave in year's past but his departure left a void that will be covered by Pack safety's coach Manny Diaz in 2004.
Diaz will have a vested interest in what happens at Hargrave this season as one of his top recruits from last year, Andre Brown, will be in attendance. Brown will be joined by speedy DE Willie Young from Palm Beach, Fla.
Hargrave head coach Robert Prunty has established a tremendous relationship with the Pack coaches over the years and he told Pack Pride he has been extremely impressed with what he has seen of Coach Diaz so far.
"Manny is recruiting up here for State now and he really does a good job," said Prunty. "He's going to be a great recruiter. He has that little knack to be a great communicator. I think before it's all over with Diaz is going to be a big-time recruiter."
