    Chuck Amato hasn't been in this situation for four years. The last time N.C. State played a football game with an untested starting quarterback was Sept. 2, 2000 -- when freshman Philip Rivers made his debut against Arkansas State on a rainy night at Carter-Finley Stadium. Junior Jay Davis, who has seen limited action the last two years as Rivers' backup, will open the season as the starter today when the Wolfpack meets Richmond at 6 p.m. in Carter-Finley Stadium.
