Sun-Sentinel: Gibbons' Greco out with injury

"Cardinal Gibbons' extreme optimism about ending its 10-year football losing streak to private school rival St. Thomas Aquinas in the annual "Catholic Bowl" endured a major blow last week as its best player, senior quarterback Mike Greco, injured his throwing hand in practice.

Greco broke the knuckle above his left pinky -- the result of a helmet hit -- and will miss at least two games, including Friday's season opener against St. Thomas, coach Mike Morrill said. Greco, a returning starter, didn't post impressive statistics last season but emerged as a major college recruit by running 40 yards in 4.3 seconds at the Nike camp this spring and orally committed to North Carolina State."

Pack Pride will have more on Greco in the near future, including a full story in the October magazine issue so stay tuned for more on NC State's first high school verbal of the 2005 class.
