Virginia OL loves atmosphere in Carter-Finley

Pack Pride has the latest on OL Jeraill McCuller.

NC State played host to better than three dozen prospects this past Saturday with big-timers on hand like DE Everette Brown, LB Charles Gamble and QB Cameron Sexton. One of the biggest Pack recruits to take in the Ohio State contest had to be OL Jeraill McCuller of Atlantic Shores Christian School in Chesapeake, Va. For the mammoth offensive tackle, this was his first trip to Carter-Finly stadium and he came away thoroughly impressed.

"Well, my mom brought me down," said McCuller. "It was a great atmosphere. I felt like the fans were really in to the game so that was a plus. I liked the intensity I saw in the fellas during warmups and throughout the game. It was just a great atmosphere to be in. I got a chance to talk to coach Diaz and coach Barry. They were telling me to go ahead and commit and get it behind me."

McCuller's recruiting got off to a slow start but has since picked up quite a bit over the last several weeks. In fact, the senior lineman said he feels some new offers may be just around the corner.

"The schools that are recruiting me are Michigan State, Maryland and South Carolina as far as the ones that are recruiting me the hardest," said McCuller. "I've picked up some new faces as far as Ohio State, West Virginia and a few others so it's really picked up quite a bit. In fact, I was contemplating going to the West Virginia-Maryland game but circumstances worked out where I could come to NC State.

"No other schools have offered yet to my knowledge. I know with a lot of them, they're ready. I think, especially when this tape goes out, I could get as many as nine offers in the next couple of weeks."

There is no mistaking the fact that McCuller is looking to enjoy the recruiting process and hoping for new doors to open in the coming weeks. At the same time, it's clear the Pack has made a favorable, early impression.

"I like State a lot," he said. "I feel like if I went there, they will definitely get me where I need to be. I still like State a lot and I like a couple other schools. But right now, it's just State- the upside there is real good. I also like Maryland, Michigan State, West Virginia and Ohio State as well. It was nice to see Ohio State in person but of course I was going for NC State."
