"Recruiting is going well," he said. "I don't know if you heard, but NC State gave me a full offer three weeks ago. Now I'm still waiting for Georgia. I've been looking at them a lot too. It's between NC State, Georgia, and Virginia Tech."
It seems NC State is still out front, but Georgia is definitely starting to emerge as a player here.
"My favorite is NC State, but I also like Georgia," said James. "I like the state of Georgia because some of my family lives down there. My coach is sending some tape to Georgia, so I'll probably hear from them in two or three weeks."
James had previously mentioned that if NC State offered he could commit shortly therafter. Is that still the case?
"It's the same thing," he said. "NC State is a good place for me to go, but I've been looking at Georgia a lot more now. Both of those teams just throw the ball a lot, and I fit what they do.
"Sometimes I kind of want to get out of North Carolina to go to college, but if I stay in-state I'm going to NC State."
James basically has a plan in place for his college decision, and he's not afraid to admit it.
"This is how it is," he said. "If I don't get a scholarship offer from Georgia, I'm going to NC State."
The Wolfpack coaches are keeping in touch with Geron, a 6'4 180 pound wide receiver who has the size and speed that major college programs covet. Wolfpack cornerbacks coach Greg Williams is leading the recruitment, and he's done a great job.
"I talk with NC State a lot," James said. "I talk with Coach Williams once or twice a week, and I think he knows the situation. I've been going up to their games, and I'm going up this week for the Miami game."
What does he think about the Miami game?
"It's going to be a good game," James said. "Miami's a fast team and NC State's getting things together after losing a rival game to [North] Carolina. They just beat Maryland too though so they may be back on track. Hopefully they'll come with the right emotions and just play ball."
At this time, James has no official visits scheduled, and he hopes to have a decision over the next few months.
"Probably in the next couple of months I'll be ready to decide."
