Locker Room Report -- Wolfpack Players

RALEIGH, NC -- Several Wolfpack players met with the media following the 45-31 loss to Miami, and here is a sampler of what they had to say.

Running Back T.A. McLendon
Were they better than you thought?

They are a good football team, but I felt like we could have played better. I can't say they are not good, but I've played better teams. They are a physical Miami team, but we really did a great job against a great Miami team that's #2 in the country.

I think we just shot ourselves in the foot. We had a chance to win, but with the turnovers that we had no one should win.

What is the problem with turnovers?
I don't know. We make turnovers in critical situations when we really don't need to. I had one myself, but I tried to make up for it. I'm going to try my best, but things happen. They had a lot of the momentum, and they did a good job of executing.

Is it frustrating?
It gets frustrating, but you've got to shake it off and move on.

Defensive End Manny Lawson

Our guys didn't give up, and we tried hard until the end.

What do you think needs to be done to get ready for next week?
We just have to play better and correct our mistakes. We need to cut down on penalties, I know I had some myself, and cut down on missed assignments.

Thoughts on the defensive line play:
I'm one of our hardest critics on our defense, and for me to say we played well on the defensive line we have to come up with a win. We came up with a loss so we didn't play well enough.

We tried to put pressure on Brock [Berlin] but his offensive line did a great job of keeping us off him.

When we blitzed, they made us pay too.

Wide Receiver Richard Washington
Miami's a real good team, and they came out and showed the world why they are #3 in the nation. We just have to continue getting better each week and keep building a winnning tradition.

What was the difference?
Discipline... like our shirts say. If we don't kill ourselves we are in this ballgame tonight. We had turnovers and penalties, and that cost us the game. We've got to stop the turnovers and penalties and we'll be a pretty good football team.

Thoughts on Brock Berlin:
He was connecting all night. He was connecting with the receivers and they were on track all night long. We didn't have any defense to stop it.

We've just got to get better. We've got to let this game go. With Clemson, it's not going to be a pushover. Down in Death Valley, it's hard down there. We've got to keep going and keep our heads up.

Did you feel they couldn't cover you tonight?
I felt that. Me and Antrel Rolle were going at it all night. Their DB's were pretty good, but I was going past them. Jay Davis found me a couple of times. We're going to be alright. Hopefully he can find me at Clemson.

Quarterback Jay Davis
Thoughts on Turnovers:

That's our goal going into each game, to protect the football. We haven't done that in the games we've lost and it's the common denominator.

How do you feel right now?
It's a tough feeling. We made some key mistakes early that if we didn't make we could be in the ballgame late in the end. It's tough but we've got to move on and get ready for Clemson.
