"They've got a good team too," he added. "I think they are going to do well this year. [Julius] Hodge was real nice, and I got to talk with him. I talked with Gavin Grant too. They were all cool dudes."
Wolfpack assistant Mark Phelps is recruiting Holmes and the #45 player in the class of 2006 feels he can trust coach Phelps.
"Coach Phelps is cool," Holmes said. "He's real honest with me, and he's up front about everything. I really like him."
Holmes, last year's conference and regional player of the year, already has scholarship offers from NC State, Florida, Florida State, Miami, Tennessee, Georgia, and Xavier. He says that Wake Forest and Maryland are recruiting him hard but have yet to offer.
"I've visited Florida State, Xavier, Florida, Wake Forest, and now NC State," Holmes said. "They were all pretty similar, but NC State's arena stands out above all of them."
Is there a leader for Holmes?
"No sir, I don't have a favorite," he said. "I'm going to try and visit Wake Forest, Florida, and Florida State again."
Although he's not ready to name a leader, Holmes feels he could be closing in on making a decision. He wants to concentrate on his final two years of high school basketball without having the pressures of recruiting hanging over him.
"I'm making my decision pretty soon, probably next month some time," he said. "I just want to get it over with so I can get better and focus on my game. That way I don't have to worry about the college coaches and making mistakes this year."
