James Still at Two

Wilmington (NC) Ashley Wide Receiver Geron James saw his season come to an end this past weekend against the E.E. Smith Golden Bulls.

"We just got put out by E.E. Smith," Geron James said. "They have a big, physical team. They had a sophomore running back that got over 300 yards. He was tough."

That sophomore running back, Carter Sharpe, is one of the top tailbacks in the state of North Carolina and will be a highly recruited player in the Class of 2007. His outstanding performance ended Ashley's and now James will focus on recruiting.

"The 17th of December I'm going to NC State," James said. "I've got to call the coach at Virginia Tech to re-schedule that one. I have to take the ACT and that kind of messed me up with that visit."

Geron's teammate, Levin Neal, also has NC State and Virginia Tech on his short list. Rumors have been spreading that the two standouts plan on attending the same school, and James addressed those rumors.

"It's been going around that we're trying to go to the same school, but it's not like that," James said. "He's got some schools he likes and so do I. We've got pretty much the same schools, but we don't have a pick of the ones we like right now."

Entering his official visits, does James have a leader?

"No, I don't have a favorite," he said. "It's pretty much the same between NC State and Virginia Tech."
