Barney was also able to meet several other recruits who were in town.
Prior to the visit NC State trailed Miami. Where do the Wolfpack stand now in Barney's recruitment?
"Oh yea, they are up there," he said. "Right now they are #1. They have everything that I need. I want to major in engineering, and they have one of the best engineering programs.
"They have a combination of good facilities, great coaches, and they play hard. They just need a couple of people that will help them get there, and I feel I'm one of those people. They feel that way too, but I'm just not ready to close the deal.
"I'm still out there looking, and I'm going to take the rest of my visits. Whatever happens in the end happens."
NC State was hit hard by the injury bug along the offensive line last season, and Barney believes that the opportunity to play early is there at NC State.
"They broke it down for me," he said. "They just told me they had a lot of injuries this year, which I already knew they had. They showed how if I was to come in now I could be on second team and if I'm better than the man in front of me I'll get that spot."
Barney heads to Rutgers this weekend, Kansas next weekend, and he will visit Miami on the 21st of January. He also is set to visit Southern Cal, but may not take that trip.
Since the Miami Hurricanes will get the last official visit, will it be tough for Barney to turn down the hometown school?
"It'll be hard turning them down, but it will be hard turning down all the schools," he said. "I can't go to all of them, but in the end it's going to be hard to turn down whatever schools are left to choose from."
