Newell Back From Raleigh

Bethlehem (Pa.) Catholic star Kyle Newell visited NC State this weekend after tripping to Boston College and Maryland the previous weeks.

"It went good," Kyle Newell said. "John Bedics was my player host. He's a good guy and an ex-teammate of mine."

Newell, the nation's #15 defensive end prospect according to Scout.com and a four-star talent, was unwilling to say if his visit to Raleigh was better than the other two trips.

"I'm not going to compare the visits until the end," Newell said.

The Wolfpack is recruiting Newell as a wide receiver. He played tight end, h-back, and defensive end in high school, but it seems NC State wants to play the 6'4 225-pounder at split end.

"NC State's recruiting me as a wide receiver," he said. "Others are at tight end and defensive end."

Newell has narrowed his list to NC State, Boston College, Maryland, Virginia, and Tennessee with trips to Virginia and Tennessee scheduled in January.

When asked if a certain program was recruiting him the hardest, Newell admitted that it was basically the same.

"They are all doing a good job recruiting me," he said. "I'm going to wait until after all of my visits before picking a school."

Newell plans to announce his decision after his final official visit.
