Pack Pride Rating Legend

100- Verbal Commitment

95-99 NCS Lean

90-94 NCS in top 2 or 3

85-89 NCS in top 5 or 6

75-84 NCS has work to do

1. LB Avery Vogt (6-1, 220 pounds, 4.6 seconds in the 40) Coral Reef High School, Miami, Fla

Prospect Ranking...2-star prospect...NCS Recruiter...Chuck Amato

Notes...Like Houston, Vogt possesses good size and had a huge senior season with better than 110 tackles and 15 tackles for loss. NCS along with CLEM, AUB and WVU lead for Vogt and he will trip to State on Dec. 10...Update...All indications point to Vogt ending up at State. We put him here simply because an offer from any of the Big 3 in Florida could be a problem. Right now, we don't see any of the Big 3 getting involved...Rating...99...PP Leader....NCS commit

2. OL Julian Williams (6-4, 295 pounds, 5.2/40) New Bern (NC) High School

Prospect Ranking....3-star prospect....Nation's No. 14 OG by Tom Lemming...NCS Recruiter........Manny Diaz

Notes....Has offers from NCS, ECU and MD. Injury in 2003 has caused some schools to take wait and see approach but Pack has been aggressive. State has been Williams' consistent leader with many feeling a commit to NCS only being a matter of time. Teammates with Pack recruit Montario Hardesty....Update...Williams declares no favorite among East Carolina, NC State and Maryland. We think State is still in a good position but there's no denying Williams has backed off his claims on NC State leading from earlier in the year...Update...The Pack now appears to be firmly in the lead but TENN has offered so an eye will have to be kept on the Vols...Update...Everything still appears to be a go with Williams. Will officially visit on Jan 14...Update...Pack still leads for Williams although it could be closer to signing day before he announces his decision...Still plans to visit UNC (Jan 21) and could visit ND as well...Rating.....97...PP Leader...NCS

3. OL Curtis Crouch (6-5, 315 pounds, 5.3/40) EE Smith High School, Fayetteville, NC

Prospect Ranking....3-star prospect...Nation's No. 6 OG by Tom Lemming....No. 11 player in NC....NCS Recruiter........Curt Cignetti

Notes....Super OL prospect with tremendous strength and good agility. Offers from NCS, OKL, UVA, VT and TENN and has consistently listed NCS as fave. Family prefers NCS and former teammate, Demarcus Tyler, is at State now. Watch out for TENN and potentially VT.....Update...State still at the top but visits could become crucial. We like the fact Crouch's family is pushing State...Update...Crouch took in Richmond and OSU games at State. Will officially visit Oklahoma, NC State, Virginia Tech and Tennessee (no offer). We still think State to be the team to beat...Update...Pack still looking strong and a commit after his official visit (Dec 10) is possible...Update....Florida has entered the picture and Crouch visited Gators on Jan 7. NC State will host Crouch this weekend. Will finish with Clemson (Jan 21) and VT (Jan 28). We still feel like State is the team to beat although this is not a given. Pack will have to work overtime to fend off these other four programs. Demarcus Tyler is a huge factor in State's favor....Rating....97...PP Leader...NCS

4. RB Toney Baker (5-11, 215 pounds, 4.4/40) Ragsdale High School, Jamestown, NC

Prospect Ranking....4-star prospect....Nation's No. 3 RB by Tom Lemming....No. 1 player in NC....NCS Recruiter........Curt Cignetti

Notes....Some consider Baker to be a heavy silent lean to NCS. Publically, Baker says he is open between NCS, UNC, VT, UVA and TENN. Proximity to home is big consideration as is ability to impact as a freshman. Baker has numerous friends at State and has unofficially visited several times...Update...With the Pack securing Bobby Washington, State's chances of landing Baker slipped. Where State looked almost like a sure thing several weeks ago, NCS, VT and UVA all look neck and neck currently. Should Darrell Blackman and Bobby Washington have big years, realistically, one would expect State to fall further....Update...Visited VT for NCS game and will visit NCS this weekend for the WF game. Baker will probably compare C-F crowd to Blacksburg. With VT getting a commit from Elan Lewis, Virginia and Tennessee now look like the primary threats...Update...Has not officially narrowed to three but quietly, UVA, TENN and NCS appear to lead and probably in that order...Update...NCS has made a move in a big way...Update...We'll find out this weekend. All signs appear to point to NC State. Would be the third year in a row NC State landed the state's top player... Rating....97...PP Leader....NCS

5. WR Geron James (6-4, 180 pounds, 4.5 in the 40) Ashley High School, Wilmington, NC

Prospect Ranking...3-star prospect and No. 32 player in NC by SuperPrep...NCS Recruiter...Greg Williams

Notes...Tall, rangy wide receiver with good hands and ability to make things happen after the catch. Has had a tremendous senior season despite opposing defenses focused on stopping him due to loss of teammate Levin Neal. Appeared an NC State lock prior to offering. Since getting an NC State offer, James now favors NCS and VT but we feel the Pack may have the slight upper hand. Will most likely officially visit on Dec 10...Update....James has gone back and forth on making an official visit to VT while continuing to name NCS as his leader. We think he would like to visit VT but, at the same time, doesn't want to risk losing his spot at NC State. If State were to get a WR commit or two, we think James will likely go ahead and commit...Rating...96...PP Leader...NCS

6. DT Alan-Michael Cash (6-1, 282 pounds, 5.0 in the 40) Varina High School, Richmond, Va

Prospect Ranking...2-star prospect....NCS Recruiter...Manny Diaz

Notes...Recently committed to Michigan State. However, after receiving an offer from NC State, quickly set up an official visit with the Pack and we think odds are in the favor of Cash switching to the Pack this weekend....Rating....95....PP Leader....NCS

7. WR/RB JC Neal (6-0, 185 pounds, 4.4/40) Lakewood High School, Sumter, SC

Prospect Ranking....3-star prospect....No. 8 player in SC....NCS Recruiter........Dick Portee

Notes....Blazing prospect who reportedly wowed the NCS coaches at camp with his speed. Being recruited as a WR/RB, odds are he would end up at WR for NCS. Has better than a dozen offers but has consistently favored VT and NCS. Should be in attendance for State games this fall...Update...Maryland, VT and NC State continue to lead the way with Duke in the mix as well. ....Update...Neal has established official visits with Virginia Tech and Maryland. NC State appears to still be a major player and should be setting an official visit in the near future. Florida State is still a possibility...Update...Will officially visit NC State on Dec. 10. Appears to be three horse race between NCS, VT and MD...Update...Neal has stated in several interviews that NCS is slight leader. He will visit for VT-UVA game and that could be key in his recruiting....Update...NCS continues to lead over VT and MD. USC and CLEM trying to get back into play. Will officially visit on Jan 14. A commit is certainly possible...Update....Neal will visit this weekend and, if he has a successful trip, could commit. However, he could hold off as VT, NCS and USC are scheduled for in-homes next week....Rating....94...PP Leader....NCS

8. TE/DE Jonathan Hannah (6-4, 255 pounds, 4.8/40) South View HS, Hope Mills, NC

Prospect Ranking.....4-star prospect....Nation's No. 5 TE....No. 4 player in NC....NCS Recruiter........Mike Barry

Notes....Tremendous jumbo athlete who now has better than a dozen offers. NCS and VT have been prominent for months with VT taking a slight lead recently. Father played at NCS. Some feel Hannah is destined for NCS but the fact some feel that way could hurt with Hannah. NCS will have to win Hannah over because he won't choose NCS simply because both parents went there. Update...Recently attended Meet the Pack Day and State still looks to be strong. Hannah explained on Pack Pride that he and Cameron Sexton would like to attend the same school but both ultimately have to do what's best for both....Update...Says he will pay for official visit to NC State. Has not attended an NC State home game this year but Pack still appears strong. Look out for Virginia Tech still as well as Penn State, Oklahoma and Clemson...Update...One guru from a competing team for Hannah told Pack Pride that he was hearing from his sources that the only way Hannah wouldn't go to State was if the Pack stopped recruiting him. That ain't gonna happen...Update...Will officially visit on Jan 14. Friend Cam Sexton committed to UNC but Sexton told us he thinks Hannah's going to State...Update...We think Hannah is basically down to VT, UNC (Jan 7), USC (Jan 14) and NCS (Jan 21) Will reportedly announce his decision on Jan 24 although we don't know if that's in stone just yet. UNC is main threat in our opinion and really pushed the basketball angle during his official visit to Chapel Hill....Rating....94...PP Leader...NCS/UNC

9. OL Chris Barney (6-5, 315 pounds, 5.2/40) Northwestern High School, Miami, Fla

Prospect Ranking....4-star prospect....Nation's No. 26 OL....No. 2 OL in Florida by Orlando Sentinel....NCS Recruiter........Chuck Amato/Mike Barry

Notes....Super OL prospect with outstanding strength and good agility. Close to 20 offers but the front runners appear to be MIA, Southern Cal, NCS, OKL, OSU and FSU. We feel strongly that State will get an official visit but history has not been kind to the Pack with OL from S. Florida.....Update...Barney continues to favor Miami but a case could be made that State has emerged as his clear No. 2 choice. If they can convince him of early available playing time, perhaps he could be won over...Update...Barney favors MIA over NCS, however, State may have an ace here. Grades are somewhat of a concern and the Canes cannot afford to risk over-signing again in 2005. If Barney is borderline to qualify when signing day approaches, that could open the door for State to steal him...Update...Barney has qualified. NCS leads after Barney's OV to State. Barney would be a huge get for the Pack...Update...We still feel really good about State's chances but realistically, this will probably boil down to how hard Miami pursues. UGA has recently entered the picure but most likely, this will be a Canes/Pack battle. Barney told several kids at Cali-Fla Bowl that he was leaning to NC State...Rating....94...PP Leader....MIA/NCS

10. WR Bruce Williams (5-11, 190 pounds, 4.6 in the 40) Christian Brothers Academy, Syracuse, NY

Prospect Ranking...Unrated....NCS Recruiter....Mike Barry

Notes...Quite possibly the "Jerricho Cotchery" of high school football. Not the biggest nor the fastest but because of his precise route-running, knack for getting open and good hands, put up some of the biggest receiving stats in the nation. WVU, NCS and RUT are top three currently. Wouldn't be surprising if he committed to the Pack this weekend on official visit...Rating...92...PP Leader...WVU/NCS

11. LB Brent Davis (6-2, 200 pounds, 4.5 in the 40) Mainland High School, Daytona Beach, Fl

Prospect Ranking...2-star prospect...NCS Recruiter...Todd Stroud

Notes...Pack looked to be in position to land Davis after his official visit to State in December. USC quickly moved in as did Florida with the Gators possibly emerging as the team to beat if they present a solid scholarship offer. As things are now, it appears to be a tossup between USC and NCS...Rating...92....PP Leader....NCS/USC/FLA

12. OL Simon Codrington (6-5, 265 pounds, 5.0/40) S. Miami (Fla) High School

Prospect Ranking....3-star prospect....No. 7 OL in Florida by Orlando Sentinel....NCS Recruiter........Chuck Amato/Mike Barry

Notes....Tall, athletic OL who holds a tremendous amount of upside. Reports close to two dozen offers but appears to be mainly focused on the Big 3, WVU, NCS and MSU. FLA may hold the upper hand currently but this is a player State has the potential to land....Update...All indications are this battle will come down to FLA or NCS. Codrington has said that if he goes out of state to play it will most likely be at NC State...Update....Appears Codrington may slightly be leaning to NCS but FLA is still a team that must be reckoned with if they settle coaching issues. Personal attention from Amato has helped big-time in this battle and State coaches love his upside...Update...FSU now a major player as well...Update...State still in the battle but we're not as optimistic as before. It's going to be a heck of a task to get Codrington out of Florida with the Gators and FSU so heavily involved. Doc Holliday at Florida certainly doesn't help the cause....Rating....92...PP Leader....FSU/FLA

13. DL Quinton Brown (6-6, 260 pounds, 4.9 seconds in the 40) Edgewater HS, Orlando, Fla

Prospect Ranking...Unrated....NCS Recruiter....Todd Stroud

Notes...When looking at AA OL Matt Hardrick, recruiters couldn't help but notice Brown. Big, athletic lineman with long arms. Physically, not where Hardrick is now but tons of potential and has earned dozen offers from schools like Florida, FSU and NC State. Probably leaning to staying in-state but State should get an official visit in December....Update...Favors NCS and FSU. Will most likely visit in January. FSU could prove tough to beat but early PT is in State's corner...Update....Like Codrington, we think it'll be a tall task to get Brown out of the state of Florida. He will be visiting State this weekend but parents apparently not making the trip. Will be interesting to see if the fact State is recruiting as a DL will be a factor or not...Will also visit Florida (Jan 21) and USC (Jan 28)....Rating....91...PP Leader....NCS/FSU

14. WR Lavar Lobdell (6-3, 195 pounds, 4.5 in the 40) Christian Brothers Academy, Syracuse, NJ

Prospect Ranking...4-star prospect....NCS Recruiter...Mike Barry

Notes...Pack has been on Lobdell for months and will get an official visit this weekend. Word has WVU leading currently but we think it will boil down to NCS and MIA if they pursue hard. Doesn't appear USC will get a visit now but MIA reportedly will on the 21st. Pack could potentially land his teammate, Bruce Williams, which could be a small factor in State's favor...Rating...91....PP Leader...NCS/MIA

15. QB Jarrett Brown (6-3, 190 pounds, 4.52 in the 40) W Palm Beach (Fl) High School

Prospect Ranking....3-star prospect....NCS Recruiter....Chuck Amato/Curt Cignetti

Notes...Originally committed to WVU but Pack landed an official visit in December. Brown says he is still open with little clue as to where he's leaning. WVU recently got a commit from teammate Jet Best and he'll visit WVU on the 28th. Those two factors could weigh heavily in the Mountaineers favor....Rating....90....PP Leader....WVU

16. RB Conredge Collins (6-0, 220 pounds, 4.6/40) Pace High School, Miami, Fla

Prospect Ranking...3-star prospect...NCS Recruiter...Chuck Amato/Dick Portee

Notes...Favors FSU and MIA over NCS and OSU. Visited NCS this summer....Update...Will officially visit on 12-10. Pack a longshot but mom lives in Durham which is a plus. FSU is team to beat in our opinion...Update....Collins appears to be down to Florida and NC State. We don't think Miami is an option as they've already landed a FB. He would be a super player to line up in front of Toney Baker should Baker choose the Pack...If Florida goes all out, watch out for the Gators....Rating....90...PP Leader....FLA

17. ATH Kyle Newell (6-4, 225 pounds, 4.55 in the 40) Bethlehem (PA) Catholic HS

Prospect Ranking...4-star prospect...NCS Recruiter...Greg Williams

Notes...CB coach Greg Williams' connections at Bethlehem Catholic have paid off as he's been able to land an official visit with Newell. Realistically, State may be a longshot and it will probably take a blowout trip to have a good shot. However, Newell is a very quiet person so getting an accurate reas on him has been tough. Insiders feel MD and UVA lead currently. Newell's former teammate, John Bedics is on the NC State roster...Update....We feel better about State's chances since the last update but this is one that is nearly impossible to predict. Upcoming trips to TENN and UVA loom large. Will be a huge get for whichever team lands him....Rating...90....PP Leader...?

18. WR Richard Goodman (6-0, 175 pounds, 4.45 in the 40) St Thomas Aquinas HS, Ft Lauderdale, Fl

Prospect Ranking...Unrated....NCS Recruiter....Chuck Amato

Notes....One of Florida's best kept secrets, Goodman's stock has taken off over the last several weeks. Has already visited Auburn and has trips planned for Mississippi State (Jan 14), NC State (Jan 21) and Florida (Jan 28) Like Davis, if the Gators and Urban Meyer offer, Florida could be the team to beat. Other than Greg Golden, NC State has not had a lot of success at Aquinas....Rating...90...PP Leader...AUB/FLA

19. DE Ricky Jean-Francois (6-3, 245 pounds, 4.6/40) Carol City High School, Miami, Fla

Prospect Ranking...5-star prospect....NCS Recruiter...Chuck Amato and Todd Stroud

Notes.....Favors MIA solid over NCS, FSU, LSU and SC...Update...Grades are at issue but NCS has done a great job of setting the plate if they improve. We think State is probably a slight leader here but should grades improves watch for teams by the dozen to jump on the bandwagon. State will have to go out of their way to show they were loyal from the beginning. If MIA were to offer at any point it would be next to impossible to land him...Update...We think State is still pursuing Francois and could get a visit. Francois appeared to be taken aback by recruiting coaches that moved on to other jobs. There is no indication that State has, or will, back off. Don't be surprised if Pack doesn't show back up but best case scenario may be a year at Hargrave....Rating....89...PP Leader....?

20. RB Richie Rich (5-10, 180 pounds, 4.4/40) Wheeler High School, Marietta, Ga

Prospect Ranking....4-star prospect....Nation's No. 20 RB....NCS Recruiter........Dick Portee

Notes....Super player with great strength, speed and vision. Coach Mazzone loves Rich at RB and that fact has propelled NCS to the front of Rich's top five along with MD. However, MD may not take any more RB's which could drop them on his list. Will visit NCS this fall. Other schools to keep an eye on are FSU, ND, AUB and OKL...Update....Rich loves the Florida schools and has not hid the fact he would probably commit should FSU or MIA offer....However, short of an offer from those two, State still looks strong with their offense being a major selling point....Update...Appears State may have backed off Rich...Update...NCS back on Rich. Had a good visit but will be January before we know where he's headed...Update...State still in top five but hard to read where Pack might stand. UNC will get visit on Jan 14 and Auburn gets visit on Jan 21. Our hedge is Rich won't end up in Raleigh. AUB/MINN/UNC probably a good bet....Rating....89...PP Leader....MINN/UNC/AUB

21. OL Brian Roche (6-4, 280 pounds, 5.0 in the 40) Don Bosco Prep, Ramsey, NJ

Prospect Ranking...4-star prospect...NCS Recruiter...Mike Barry

Notes...Pack got in the mix a little late but has secured an official visit on Jan 14. Has already visitied LOU and Michigan State. Will also visit Notre Dame on Jan 28 and if he's still uncommitted by then, the Irish could prove tough to beat. Pack needs a blowout visit to have a shot....Rating...89....PP Leader....?

22. CB Tyller Roberts (6-0, 190 pounds, 4.5 in the 40) Edgewater High School, Orlando, Fla

Prospect Ranking....Unrated....NCS Recruiter....Todd Stroud

Notes...Had solid showing in Cali-Florida Bowl and college interest has grown accordingly. Just getting Roberts out of the state of Florida could prove to be the biggest challenge as he has strong interest in Florida and USF....Rating...89....PP Leader...USF/FLA

23. WR/S Eric Sledge (6-2, 180 pounds, 4.6 in the 40) Apopka (Fla) High School

Prospect Ranking...3-star prospect...NCS Recruiter....Todd Stroud

Notes...Super athlete that is probably under-rated at 3 stars. Time may not be on Pack's side in this race. They have a visit set for Jan 28 and it's questionable whether or not he will still be on the board at the point. LOU could be the team to beat but USC will get a visit this weekend. Sledge plans to visit OSU on Jan 21...Rating...89....PP Leader....LOU

24. S Quinton Andrews (5-11, 190 pounds, 4.6 in the 40) Pace High School, Miami, Fla

Prospect Ranking...3-star prospect....NCS Recruiter....Manny Diaz/Chuck Amato

Notes...Pack has been off again/on again and appear to be in position to potentially get an official visit. Florida leads currently and getting Andrews out of the Sunshine State could prove difficult. WVU and UGA are in the mix as well. Andrews has not set a visit with State as of yet...Rating...89...PP Leader...Florida

25. RB Antone Smith (5-8, 185 pounds, 4.4/40) Pahokee (Fla) High School

Prospect Ranking....5-star prospect....Nation's No. 3 RB....No. 2 RB in Florida by Orlando Sentinel....NCS Recruiter........Chuck Amato

Notes....Amazing athlete the Pack has targeted as an every-down RB. Offers from all over but the primary teams in contention are MIA, FSU, NCS and RUT. Smith has sincere interest in the Pack but the pressure to stay in Florida may be too much. Probably a Cane when all is said and done....Update....Rumor has NC State's Chuck Amato having an impressive in-home visit with Smith. However, with time running out, it may be tough to find a weekend to get him in on an official visit. Miami, Florida State and Auburn look like the top contenders...Rating....88...PP Leader...Miami
