With his senior football season behind him, OL Terrance Campbell of Purnell Swett High School in Pembroke, NC has now turned his attention toward the hardwood. At 6-5, 290 pounds, Campbell is definitely a present in the middle and is averaging double figures in both points and rebounds. However, football is Campbell's future and he made an official visit with NC State this past weekend. He gave Pack Pride the lowdown on the trip to Raleigh.
"The visit went really well and I liked it a lot," said Campbell. "I got a real good feeling for all the players and I loved the campus and facilities. Martrel Brown hosted me.
"It was my first chance being able to sit down and talk with coach Amato and he's a great guy. I could really tell how much he wants to win a national championship and I know a lot of schools don't even think like that. They're a program that's definitely headed in the right direction."
Campbell has been on the Pack's radar for months but has yet to secure a Wolfpack scholarship offer. He said he and head coach Chuck Amato had a chance to talk about that this weekend.
"I talked to coach Amato about an offer and he said he wanted to offer me right now but he said they had some pretty good guys they were in with. He said that he'd let me know something by the weekend as far as an offer goes but he said there's about a 95% chance he'll offer me."
Campbell says he may visit Maryland this weekend and could try to squeeze in a visit to East Carolina as well. However, one has to wonder, if the Pack comes through with an offer, will Campbell jump at the opportunity.
"At first I had a little doubt but after being able to sit back for a day and think about it, I know that's the place I want to be," said Campbell. "I've just got a good relationship with coach Barry. I mean, he was one of the first guys to notice me and since then, all these other schools got involved."
