Close To Committing?

Orlando (Fl.) Edgewater lineman Quinton Brown could be close to giving a verbal commitment.

Quinton Brown, an outstanding lineman from Edgewater High School in Orlando, Florida, visited Florida last weekend and was impressed with what the Gators showed him.

"It was a good visit," he said. "I grew up a Florida fan so I knew I would like the visit. It was good like the others."

Entertaining offers from programs like NC State, Florida State, South Carolina, Georgia, and Florida among others, Brown has a strong group of colleges to choose from. At this point, it appears three are out front with the NC State Wolfpack holding the edge.

"I think it's going to be NC State, Florida State, or Florida," he said. "You can say that NC State has a good lead right now."

He also talked with NC State assistant coach Todd Stroud on Monday, and they have a great relationship. NC State is the only school recruiting Brown for the defensive line, and Stroud coaches the position for the Wolfpack.

"I talked with Coach Stroud a few minutes ago," Brown said. "We just talked about where NC State stood with me."

Is there a chance that Brown announces a decision in the next couple of days?

"Yes sir, it could come at any time," Brown said. "I'm kind of getting tired of the recruiting process, and I just may be ready to announce. I could do something soon."

Despite the chance of giving a verbal commitment soon, he has one visit left to South Carolina. Will he take that trip?

"I'm really not sure right now," Brown replied when asked about the South Carolina official visit.
