Bennerman Visits, Picks Pack

NC State received its first commitment of the year and they didn't have to travel very far to do it. Greensboro, N.C., native Cameron Bennerman visited the Pack on Monday and made a commitment to Herb Sendek's team.

Bennerman To Run With The Pack

Cameron Bennerman, a 6-4 shooting guard, selected the Wolfpack on Monday. Bennerman had been looking at the Pack, Tennessee, Virginia and Clemson.

"I made a verbal commitment to NC State this afternoon," Bennerman said Monday evening. "Everything was lovely and it felt right. It was one of those ‘why not' decisions. It's good for my family to come and see me play and it's not too far from home."

Bennerman transferred for his senior year from Grimsley to Hargrave Military Academy. He's athletic and strong and has a nice touch from downtown. He's one of the top seniors in the state of North Carolina and a Top 100 player.

"I think I'm able to step in and get some good minutes as a freshman; maybe start. If John Gilchrist and Shavlik Randolph sign, I honestly believe that we can win a championship. If we nail those two guys, I'm positive we'll win a championship."

Bennerman was absent most of the summer, electing to take care of his academics at Hargrave. "I had to take a summer class. Ever since I enrolled at Hargrave, we've been hitting the academics real hard."

In other Pack news, VA PG John Gilchrist will be on campus Tuesday afternoon, according to Bennerman. Cameron said he would have liked to visit campus with Gilchrist, but schedules prevented that from happening.
