Lakewood High School, Sumter, SC

Prospect Ranking...4-star prospect and No. 15 S in the nation by Scout.com...No. 8 player in SC and All-American by SuperPrep

Accomplishments...Rushed for 1,401 yards and 19 TD's on offense and had 88 tackles as a senior. Named all-state, 3A back of the year and was selected to the Shrine Bowl where he was named defensive MVP for the South Carolina squad.

NC State recruiter...Dick Portee...Academics...Projects as an academic qualifier with a 2.5 GPA and 19 on the ACT.

The recruiting scene...Neal was a landmark recruit of sorts for NC State. He was the first player from South Carolina to commit to NC State. Had offers from NC State, Maryland, Clemson, South Carolina, Duke and Virginia Tech among others. Made official visits to Virginia Tech, South Carolina, Maryland and NC State. Neal favored NC State throughout the recruiting process and committed to the Pack during his official visit in December.

Scouting Report...Neal is a big-time athlete with good size, great speed and impressive toughness. Very instinctive as a DB that isn't afraid of contact. Played RB in high school and was defined by his ability to break tackles and tenacity. Will begin career as slot receiver at NC State but we would love to see him at Safety for the Pack.

Player Comments: "The atmosphere... that feeling I got. I didn't get that feeling anywhere else yet. Virginia Tech almost had it... it wasn't as good as NC State." -- J.C. Neal
