Quote of the Day: "But if N.C. State can't finish strong enough to get back to the NCAA Tournament, the smart move by Sendek would be to resign. The alternative would be a year in a purgatory of fan resentment and constant speculation...If he can't salvage this season, Sendek should look in the mirror and consider a new direction. No coach wants to take that option -- no one wants to walk away from a job that pays almost $1 million annually. But big paychecks come with big responsibilities. If the challenge at State is too big to overcome, Sendek owes it to the school and himself to acknowledge as much and step down. Another season simply wouldn't be worth the turmoil." - N&O's Caulton Tudor

It's fitting that N.C. State's basketball team will play against Maryland tonight in the RBC Center. The Terps serve as the perfect reminder of how fast a season can change. When Maryland last visited Raleigh on March 3, 2004, Gary Williams' team was 5-9 in the ACC, coming off a home loss to Wake Forest, and seemingly out of NCAA Tournament contention for the first time since 1993. What we're planning on doing is pointing out the bright side, the things that need to improve, and if there is anything that's really tough on the team, that as well. Hope you enjoy. Herb Sendek and the Wolfpack are to be commended for doing what they absolutely needed to do last night, which was get a road win in the ACC. While no one would call it an elegant win by any stretch of the imagination, however, the old saying golf comes to mind: "There are no pictures on the scorecard." Like golf, there are no pictures in the ACC standings, and State got a badly needed win. While the Pack victory is being called an ugly win, and indeed, looking at the statistics of this game, you might come away thinking that State simply avoided a bullet last night, and that they were the victorious team because they played only slightly "less ugly" than did the Yellow Jackets. No matter -- they did what they needed to do. And, there are no Russian figure skating judges to score the artistic merit of a win. Read More
