Sendek has N.C. State locked in turnaround mode

The Pack is off to their best start in what seems like generations. Coach Sendek was under heavy criticism after last year's disappointing 13-16 season. But things seem to be changing in Raleigh. Talk by the press of a Pack return to the NCAAs has excited the Wolfpack community which has patiently waited eleven years to see NC State in the bracket of 64. The Press rightfully talks about a bid. The fans rightfully hope for as much. Coach Sendek seems to be turning the corner.

Last May, North Carolina State held a press conference to hype the program's top five recruiting class and the addition to the staff of veteran coach Larry Hunter.

The next day, most of the newspapers around the state wrote about how the pressure was on Herb Sendek to get the Wolfpack to the NCAA Tournament and avoid being fired. There was little mention of recruits or staff moves.

It seemed at that point, 10 months from Selection Sunday, the only reasonable topic concerning the program was if Sendek could survive in his sixth season. And the media were probably correct. Read more...
