McCauley, Yough Advance to Semis

NC State signee Ben McCauley scored 41 of his team's 61 points including the decisive basket as he led Yough to the WPIAL Semifinals.

"McCauley swatted away Jordan Shoop's potentially winning basket with three seconds left in the game to preserve a 61-60 Yough victory before a packed house at North Hills Middle School.

The North Carolina State recruit tallied a three-point play with 51 seconds left in the game to give the Cougars their first lead since going ahead, 4-3, in the opening minutes of play.

McCauley scored 41 of his team's 61 points, giving him a career total of 2,180, good enough for 15th place on the all-time WPIAL scoring list."


Yough advanced to the WPIAL semifinals for the first time in school history. They will play the winner of West Mifflin-Hopewell game early next week.

Ben McCauley's strong playoff efforts continued as he has now scored 58% of his team's points in the playoffs.

He is averaging nearly 30 points per game for the season, and has now led Yough to an 18-7 overall record.
