Spring Practice Position Changes

According to GoPack.com, several Wolfpack players have switched positions with spring practice just days away.
3:45 Update: DaJuan Morgan and J.J. Jones have been moved to free safety.

Three NC State players, redshirt senior John Amanchukwu, redshirt freshman LaMarte McGhee, and redshirt senior Dwayne Herndon, have been moved to the offensive line after playing defensive line in 2004.

Herndon, who started early last season, recorded 19 tackles, two quarterback hurries, four tackles for loss, and a sack in 2004 will play offensive guard along with Amanchukwu, a transfer from St. Augustine's. McGhee has been slated to play offensive tackle.

Redshirt sophomore Kalani Heppe has been moved from center to offensive guard.

Senior Marcus Hudson, who rotated between safety and cornerback last season, is now listed as a cornerback. Hudson finished 2004 with 52 tackles, three sacks, three fumble recoveries, and two interceptions.

Because Hudson will now work exclusively at cornerback, redshirt senior J.J. Jones and redshirt freshman DaJuan Morgan have been moved to free safety.

Redshirt sophomore James Martin, who missed all of the 2004 season with a torn ACL, is now listed as a linebacker. He played defensive end in 2003 and recorded 27 tackles, four tackles for loss, four quarterback hurries, and a sack as a true freshman.

Also, redshirt senior Chip Cross is now listed on the roster after missing the 2004 season due to academics. He will add valuable depth at the defensive end position following the loss of junior Maurice Charles.

Some of these changes may be temporary and all will certainly be evaluated in spring practice along with other potential moves.

NC State starts spring practice March 17th and will conclude the workouts with the annual spring game on April 16th.

Wolfpack head coach Chuck Amato, offensive coordinator Marc Trestman, and defensive coordinator Steve Dunlap will meet the media on March 15th to discuss spring practice.
