The following is a Q & A session with LB Avery Vogt of Coral Reef High School in Miami, Fla. Pack Pride will be profiling many of NC State's signees from the class of 2005 over the next several weeks.

What have you been up to since the end of football season and are you doing anything to get ready for the upcoming football season?

Vogt- "I've been spending a lot of time working out. I lift on Monday, Wednesday and Friday and then run on Tuesday and Thursday. I'm on the track team but I'm doing the shot put."

When do you plan to arrive at NC State?

Vogt- "Not sure yet."

When it came time to decide on your future college, what was the number one reason you selected NC State?

Vogt- "I guess brotherhood would be the reason. I just knew a lot of the players and being from Miami, I just felt like I belonged up there."

What was your first impression when you met coach Amato?

Vogt- "Well, the first thing you see is his chest. It's huge."

During your high school career, what accomplishment are you most proud of?

Vogt- "I didn't even play football until I was in the ninth grade because I was always too big so just being able to play football in college is probably the thing I'm most proud of."

If you could pattern your game after one NFL player, who would it be?

Vogt- "That would be Ray Lewis. He just has great instincts and has so much charisma."

What is your favorite subject in school?

Vogt- "Math"

Who would you consider to be NC State's rival in football?

Vogt- "Miami"

Who is your favorite music artist?

Vogt- "Lil Wayne"

Did you use the internet at all during the recruiting process and if so, what did you use it for?

Vogt- "I used it some to check out the schools I was looking at and to see who they were looking at for my position."

What do you think you'll need to improve on before you get to NC State?

Vogt- "I need to work on getting faster because college football has become a game of speed. I mean, I'm not slow but I'm working on trying to get faster."

If you hadn't selected NC State, who would your next choice have been?

Vogt- "South Florida. They were close to home and they're going to the Big East Conference."

What do you like to do in your spare time?

Vogt- "I like to just hang out with my friends."
