Tony Costner was a basketball standout in Philadelphia, first as a member of powerhouse Overbrook High teams and then as a four-year starter at St. Joseph's University. Whether it was winning the city championship at Overbrook in 1979 and 1980, earning Parade magazine all-American honors as a high school senior, going 68-1 those final two years, or helping St. Joseph's defeat DePaul in a stunning NCAA tournament victory as a freshman in 1981, there wasn't much that Costner didn't accomplish on the amateur level.
